Allow me to asked this question to the audience. How do you know what you know is indeed correct? While others can verify something completely different, given an outlook on the same circumstances? What and who do we rely on, especially in this vast world we live in today, when very few seek the truth.

Simply at the end we never know if we are really right or wrong. You might think that you know, even for a hundred percent be sure that you know, but you will never know .

Personally I would do my research before confidently holdng on to my stand. If I hear something otherwise, I won't be satisfied till I personally do more research on the topic and its authenticity.....If I am convinced, then I would concede... Otherwise, I will still hold my original opinion, even if I were to be the only one differing from the rest. This is specially so for hadiths and Islamic practices ... What attracted me to Islam in the first place was that IT is a complete and practical way of life... and I went through intensive resaearch and debated arduously the various restrictions, before deciding to revert and give up my old 'free & easy' lifestyle .. So when others verify something completely different that seems odd, illogical and extreme, I tend to analyse the logic behind it instead of just following blindly... This I feel is necessary because I discovered thatpeople can derive completely different conclusions from the very same excerpt of the quran or hadiths !

salam brother , let me try to answer your good question ... first from God i learn what is right and what is wrong , the same way a child learn from his father .... 2nd , through our beautiful religion that carries God's instructions .... We said: Go down, all of you, from hence; (((but verily there cometh unto you from Me a guidance; and whoso followeth My guidance, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.))) (38)surat albaqara (the cow) God sent us down to this earth and sent down His guidance to teach us what is right and what is wrong .... who follow the quidance will be in the safe side to go into more details .. prophet muhammad peace be upon him said: "I am leaving you two things and you will never go astray as long as you cling to them -- they are the Book of Allah and my Sunnah." [Reported by Al- Haakim - Sahih]. their is another teaching when the messenger was talking to imam Ali and telling him that their will come a time when their will be alot of differences and people will be confused like our time these days .. then imam Ali asked : what should i do in such a time ? the messenger said stick to the quran... simply when i follow this guidelines and ask Allah for guidance , following His instructions and teachings of our messenger .. then for sure i know that what i know is right .... alot of people defined things according to what they think , or according to their culturs or acrroding to the way they were raised ... that's why you will see alot of people regretting their decisions these days .... because what they think is right end up being wrong ... they don't follow the guidance .. and you will see this in people who call themselves educated from highest level to lowest level before the uneducated .... i hope i answered your question .. salam
