Assalam Alaikum warahmatulla wabarakatu "ab mumin" I agree with you on gambling/lottery but I wish you wouldn`t use the terms infidel etc. unnecessarily. If we believe in God then we should believe in humanity. All God's creatures are His family; and he is the most beloved of God who doeth most good to God's creatures. Book reference: Sayings of Muhammad(may peace and blessings of Alla be upon him) , compiled by Abdullah Suhrawardy LO! Those who believe in that which is Revealed unto thee, Muhammad, and those who are Jews, and Christians And Sabaeans-whoever believeth in God And the Last Day and doeth right- Surely their reward is with their Lord, and there Shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. Quran: II:62 Of ALMS-GIVING: The angels asked, "O God! Is there anything of Thy creation stronger than rocks?" Yes; iron is stronger than rocks, for it breaketh them." The angels said, "O Lord! Is there anything of Thy creation stronger than iron?" God said, "Yes; fire is stronger than iron, for it melteth it." And the angels said, "O defender! Is there anything of Thy creation stronger than fire?" God said, "Yes; water overcometh fire: it killeth it and maketh it cold." Then the angels said, "O Lord! Is there anything of Thy creation stronger than water?" God said, "Yes; wind overcometh water: it agitateth it and putteth it in motion." They said, "O our cherisher! Is there anything of Thy creation stronger than wind ?" God said, "Yes, the children of Adam, giving alms; that is, those who give with their right hands and conceal it from their left, they overcome all." Of RELATIVES: O Messenger of God! verily I have done a great crime; is there any act by which I may repent? He said, "Have you a mother?" "No," said the questioner. "Have you an aunt?" asked Muhammad. He said, "Yes, I have." Prophet Muhammad said, "Go, do good to her, and your crime will be pardoned." Of PEACEMAKING: Shall I not inform you of a better act than fasting, alms, and prayers? Making peace between one another: enmity and malice tear up heavenly rewards by the roots Of GOD'S FORGIVENESS: God saith, "Verily My compassion overcometh My wrath." Of GOD'S KINDNESS: God's kindness towards His creatures is more than a mother's towards her baby. Book reference: Sayings of Muhammad(may peace and blessings of Alla be upon him) , compiled by Abdullah Suhrawardy

assalamu aleykum a response to aries, The infidels who give charity from them Allah doesnot accept it.only muslims deeds bare fruit.all forms of gambling is haraam.no matter if you feed Palestine with your bilions.haraam money goes to haraam things. No barakah. No blessings. Gambling is a deed which is prohibited even if someone bet me 1 dollar that would still be haraam even if I bet 0.01 cent and take that my whole life can collapse.Because Allah punishes the muslims and his reckoning is fast.Allah cleans us here so we dont get punishment in Agirah. so if any people use haram or buy haram pity on them.Even if you give a milion dollars to sadaqa you will get NO reward for it. Bismillah, 5.90] O you who believe! intoxicants and games of chance and (sacrificing to) stones set up and (dividing by) arrows are only an uncleanness, the Shaitan's work; shun it therefore that you may be successful

assalamu aleykum, I agree with you sister Lolly.Mashallah no need to say much.Loving money/house is loving dunya for a muslim is a disaster. I had lots of money before not like you immediately I asked Allah not to test me on money.I bought very little clothes from a big sum of money that is because of Allah. Our prophet Muhammad(saws) said this dunya is like a brigde to the after-life(agirah) dont build on the bridge for you are a traveller in dunya But once people love dunya and its material then they will sell their faith(eemaan) thus become one of the loosers. So the angels will ask the people who enter Hell-fire how come you are here was there no warner for you they will reply yes there was but we were the ones who didnot pray and we endulged in idle talks.

Assalamu Alaikum Don`t forget the 2.5% zakat as soon as the money is earned, i.e. not end of the year. Does giving money for relatives` education count as zakat - I think yes? Wealth is not bad. But our prophet Muhammad, prophet Jesus, Mahatma Gandhi preferred to live more humbly. Lolly is right but at least it`s not stolen money. In the UK lottery 28 pence of every ?1 spend on the lottery is given to charity (so far ?18.6 billion is given to charity from the lottery). Of course nobody buys the lottery because they are giving to charity. Even though this is still gambling - it`s not betting. A lot of charities sell raffle tickets to raise money where there is a price for the winning ticket but this is not called gambling. Would this lottery still be as haram as gambling say in a casino? I feel even here the lottery is still obviously gambling. But can we gamble where you might lose the money but a charity is a sure winner of 28% of your money? For those who still want a chance or hope of winning money there is goverment Premium Bonds (UK but probably other countries must have it too). Every month there is two ?1 million jackpots and ?1 million other tax free prizes. Every ?1 has a bond number which has a chance of winning and you can invest up to ?30,000 maximum and ?100 minimum. You don`t earn interest and you don`t lose the money and can take all your money out when you want.

Assalamo Alaykom brother, Brother, I am very sorry but I have to tell you that I am very disturbed about what you have shared with us here. I am a sister seeking marriage and I have to say if a brother in your circumstance approached me I would refuse him without a second thought beacause I would be very afraid of the fact that all this wealth is not halal (lawful in Islam). You have lots of money now, but brother where is the baraka(blessing) in this money. You received it by haram means. Lottery is a form of gambling, and gamling is most definitely haram. You may have had nothing before but maybe you had Allah's approval and blessings. I am not suggesting that you do not have Allah's approval and blessing now, that is in Allah's knowlege only. I am just suggesting that you check yourself brother, look deep within and understand things are not always as they seem. Two things I will leave you with for your consideration. First, sobhanallah, we place so much emphasis on money in this world that we do not realise that money is not always a gift, or a blessing, but can be an infliction, a punishment. Never forget brother we are told in the Quran, be careful, you may like something which is actually bad for you, and dislike somathing which is good for you. Things are not always as they seem to us. Our knowledge and vision are very limited. Second, your sudden wealth may well be a test. Allah tests us in different ways, whether we are inflicted with disaster or good fortune, it is all a test. I do not mean to offend you in any way brother, and my only purpose here is to give you a point of view that you may not have considered. I do this for your sake only and for the sake of Allah. I will not be affected either way. However, after reading your blog, I felt it was my Islamic duty to share my thoughts with you. May Allah enlighten you and lead you to the path of righteousness always, and the same to all muslims inshaallah. Salam
