Salaam, I often get the feeling that most people are not really looking for a husband/wife but are here because they are feeling lonesome? disillusioned with life? depressed? or are looking for companionship and are frightened to make a commitment after a bad/failed previous relationship. i would be the first to admit that it is not easy,(to say the least), to make a commitment to a total stranger over the net, be they male or female (as the case maybe). I was just interested to hear the views of others in regards to this subject. As for my views on the subject, i feel it is natural to be feeling in a emotionally low mood from time to time when things may not be going as expected in one's life. your Views/comments would be much appreciated, take care,

Salaam,my dear brother now that is what you call a whirlwind romance! I'm not sure about the practicalities or the spontaneity of the decision to marry someone on the opposite side of the world, but,it's very heart warming to hear.I'm really glad it worked out for you,Alhamdulillah. Take care my dear brother.

Salaam.my dear sister Nadirah1972 i hope you and yours are in the best off health and content with life,Insha'Allah.i appreciate your taking the time and trouble to post your views, thankyou. let me start of by saying i can totally identify with your previous situation and am sorry to hear what you may have gone through.may Allah Swt save us all from failed marriages Ameen. in regards proposing i think the culture is the same in most countries.here in the uk the man seeks the womans hand in marriage and initiates the process. i would agree with you that it is important to know a little bit about the character and background of the person you are contemplating marrying. once bitten twice shy as they say.there is always that fear of the second marriage failing once somebody has had the unfortune experience of their first marriage failing.i'm also ready for marriage but have a few thoughts running through my mind which will probably be similar to yours or anybody else's in our position. Allah hafiz

dear brothers, the culture in my country i come from the man propose the girl for marriage and not the other way round. it seems bad for the girl to initial it which im aware is different in our Prophet (pbuh) case. tho im ready for marriage but i prefer to know my future partner to be since i already had a failed marriage before. so to avoid another failure i want to know my partner before getting marriage.
