A Message to the brave Israeli Airmen

A Message to the brave Israeli Airmen
by Jeremy Salt

Hello brave Israeli airman. What?s it like, firing missiles at people you can?t see? Does that help, that you cannot see who you are killing, does it ease your conscience that you are not deliberately targeting civilians, as your government keeps saying, when you know perfectly well that they are going to die as the result of your actions.
How does this sit on your conscience? Do you sleep well at night or do you have nightmares of the women and children you killed, in their homes, in their beds, in their kitchens and living rooms, in their schools and mosques?
Do you actually believe what you are being told, that Israel is under threat from homemade rockets, so seriously threatened that you have to go out and take part in the aerial massacre of civilians?
What do you feel when the mission is over?
That you did a good job?
Do you and your air force buddies slap each other on the back before going off for a beer?
Would you still think that you did a good job if you saw the dead and dismembered bodies you have created, not of fighting men but of women and children, the bodies that are your particular contribution to the Middle East ?peace process??
Would you still regard your mission as a success, the word used by your political leaders, your media and your government and military spokesmen and women?
How would you personally apply the word ?success? to the killing of civilians?
Does it cross your mind that people around the world regard you not as a success story but as a war criminal who should be prosecuted if your identity is ever revealed and you step out of your own country and expose yourself to arrest?
The number of your countrymen in this category is increasing by the day.
You can exchange notes with Dan Halutz, your former air force commander, who said when asked what he felt when he bombed an apartment building in Gaza that he felt the wings of his plane tremble as the bomb was released.
Did you think that was funny at the time? Do you still think it is funny? Do you think it was a pity about the 18 people who were killed. Now the political leaders who gave you your orders have taken their place in the overcrowded pantheon of Israeli war criminals.
They told you that you were only defending your country. Actually, it?s someone else?s country. Do you know that or you have swallowed the propaganda about the Palestinians running away and your state surrounded by a ring of steel and facing extinction?
Are you a liberal who believes in two ??

. . . but you are never going to admit that even if inside you know deep down that it is true. You can?t admit the truth because the game would be up for you and other brave young men and women like, sent out to kill in the name of protecting the homeland from attack.
Well, sixty years ago, the homeland was attacked by your father and your grandfather and the fathers and grandfathers of your friends. So, what you are actually doing is defending your right to hold stolen property, and that?s nonsense isn?t it.
If someone steals your property, does that mean you only have to wait ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty years for it to become yours? It will still be theirs in a hundred years, won?t it.

What do your parents say when you get home? Does your mother bustle around you, spoiling you, ruffling your hair, making you a cup of tea, relieved that her darling boy is home safe and sound. She won?t have any idea, will she, of what you actually did today, and you aren?t going to be the one to tell her.
In fact you don?t even know and you don?t want to know because you could not live with yourself if you faced up to the detail of what you did today.
You just fired your missile at a target didn?t you. No doubt she will say well done. Yes, it was well done, wasn?t it. You killed civilians very efficiently and effectively.
No possibility of them ever getting to their feet again. No chance of those children growing up or of their dead mothers giving birth to more children. No likelihood that those limbs you severed can be reattached, no way of rejoining the head to the body you decapitated.

In all likelihood you are a nice young from a good family, proud that you go into the air force academy. The kind of nice young man who would not hesitate to rush to the defence of a old man or a child being beaten in the streets.
But isn?t that what you are doing?
What possibility do the old men and women and children have of defending themselves against your aerial mugging ? not that the actions of a back alley bully applies to you. Oh no.
What you are doing is much worse. Infinitely worse. You are not just killing innocent people. You are murdering them. Is this is what you were trained to do in the air force academy? Good heavens, no! What an insult to the air force!!
You were trained to attack and destroy the enemy, weren?t you. To protect the stolen homeland, and if civilians get in the way, as they do when the target area is the most overcrowded piece of earth on the planet, it?s not your fault.
It is the fault of the enemy. After all, they started this and so they are responsible for you having to kill civilians in defence of your stolen country.
And you were not deliberately targeting them anyway, were you. Is it is your fault if the enemy uses schools, mosques, apartment blocks, university campuses, government ministries and the parliament building to stockpile weapons?
So you are not the murderer
? it is the enemy.
Is that the way you justify your behavior? Is that what enables to sleep peacefully at night? But what will you say if all of this catches up with you, not in the middle of the night when you are staring up at the ceiling and wondering what you have done, but in the court of law where you are being tried for war crimes?
?I was only obeying orders?.
Surely even you have heard that somewhere before.

INTERESTING CONVERSATION - FAITH (GOD versus SCIENCE)

An Atheist Professor of Philosophy speaks to his Class on the Problem Science has with GOD, the ALMIGHTY. He asks one of his New Christian Students to stand and . . ?.

Professor : You are a Christian, aren't you, son?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So you Believe in GOD ?
Student : Absolutely, sir.
Professor : Is GOD Good ?
Student : Sure.
Professor : Is GOD ALL - POWERFUL ?
Student : Yes.
Professor : My Brother died of Cancer even though he Prayed to GOD to Heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill.. But GOD didn't. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student is silent)

Professor : You can't answer, can you ? Let's start again, young fella. Is GOD Good?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Is Satan good ?
Student : No.
Professor : Where does Satan come from ?
Student : From . . . GOD . . .
Professor : That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Evil is everywhere, isn't it ? And GOD did make
everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.
Professor : So who created evil ?

(Student does not answer)

Professor : Is there Sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the World, don't they?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So, who Created them ?

( Student has no answer )

Professor : Science says you have 5 Senses you use to Identify and Observe the World. Tell me, son . . . Have you ever Seen GOD?
Student : No, sir.
Professor : Tell us if you have ever Heard your GOD?
Student : No , sir.
Professor : Have you ever Felt your GOD, Tasted your GOD, Smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
Professor : Yet you still Believe in HIM?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my Faith.
Professor : Yes, Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
Professor : Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as Cold?
Professor : Yes.
Student : No sir. There isn't.

(The Lecture Theatre becomes very quiet with this turn of events )

Student : Sir, you can have Lots of Heat, even More Heat, Superheat, Mega Heat, White Heat, a Little Heat or No Heat. But we don't have anything called Cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is No Heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as Cold. Cold is only a Word we use to describe the Absence of Heat. We cannot Measure Cold. Heat is Energy. Cold is Not the Opposite of Heat, sir, just the Absence of it.

(There is Pin - Drop Silence in the Lecture Theatre )

Student : What about Darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as Darkness?
Professor : Yes. What is Night if there isn't Darkness?
Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the Absence of Something? You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, and Flashing Light . . . But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and its called Darkness, isn't it? In reality, Darkness isn't. If it is, were you would be able to make Darkness Darker, wouldn't you?
Professor : So what is the point you are making, Young Man ?
Student : Sir, my point is your Philosophical Premise is flawed.
Professor : Flawed ? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a Good GOD and a Bad GOD. You are viewing the Concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can't even explain a Thought. It uses Electricity and Magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view Death as the Opposite of Life is to be ignorant of the fact that Death cannot exist as a Substantive Thing. Death is Not the Opposite of Life: just the Absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your Students that they evolved from a Monkey?
Professor : If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shakes his head with a Smile, beginning to realize where the Argument is going)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and cannot even prove that this Process is an on - Going Endeavor, Are you not teaching your Opinion, sir? Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?

(The Class is in Uproar )

Student : Is there anyone in the Class who has ever seen the Professor's Brain?

(The Class breaks out into Laughter )

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's Brain, Felt it, touched or Smelt it? . . . No one appears to have done so. So, according to the Established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have No Brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then Trust you're Lectures, sir?

(The Room is Silent. The Professor stares at the Student, his face unfathomable)

Professor : I guess you'll have to take them on Faith, son.
Student : That is it sir . . . The Link between Man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that Keeps Things Moving & Alive.

Hmmm... Genius vs Intelligent

Hi All,

I think I already post this but anyhow, please do enjoy it.

Case 1

When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that the pens wouldn't work at zero gravity (ink won't flow down to the writing surface). To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million. They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

And what did the Russians do...?? They used a pencil.

Case 2

One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the case of the empty soapbox, which happened in one of Japan's biggest cosmetics companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soapbox that was empty. Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly line, which transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some reason, one soapbox went through the assembly line empty.

Management asked its engineers to solve the problem. Post-haste, the engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the soapboxes that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast but they spent a whoopee amount to do so.

But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with the same problem, he did not get into complications of X-rays, etc., but instead came out with another solution. He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out of the line.

The price of Gas versus Printer Ink

All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are....

You will be really shocked by the last one! Compared with Gasoline......

Think a gallon of gas is expensive?

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ...$10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 .........$9.52 per gallon
Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 .... $10.00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ...... $33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallon
Whiteout 7oz $1.39 ....... . $25.42 per gallon
Scope 1.5oz $0.99 .....$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz $1.49..$21.19 per gallon! $21.19 for WATER and the buyers doesn?t even know the source (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?

So they have you hooked for the ink. Someone calculated the cost of the ink at...............(you won't believe it....but it is true.......) $5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars)

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!

Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump...

Terima Kasih Pengundi / Thanks All Voters

Pagi Ahad aku bangkit dari tidur, lepas dari ?kerja? yang sepatutnya aku buat, aku lepak kat luar rumah. Langit 7.30 pagi terasa aman. Aku hirup udara sepuas-puasnya, hmmm? damai sekali. Ya baru aku ingat, AKU SUDAH BERJAYA? Barisan Alternatif sudah berjaya.

Semalam, jam 8 aku tengok TV3.

?Bior benar kau, malas aku nak keluar, penat panjat pokok pasang bendera pun belum hilang? kata ku. ?Rawang pun PKR menang, Selangor dah hampir tumbang? tempik member aku?

TERIMA KASIH BEBANYAK. Thanks to all voters that giving some hope to Malaysia. Thank you very much for your votes.

Analisa politik dari kaca mata Aku

Kelantan ?

PANTANG orang kelantan kalau ?agah?. Orang kelantan cukup tak suka orang ?agah?.

Terengganu ?
Saya tak nak komen banyak, rata-rata mereka masih miskin dan memerlukan bantuan kerajaan (bukan macam kelantan). So dengan kemenangan BN maka rakyat masih dapat rasa wang ihsan. Kalau PAS memerintah, mana nak cari duit. Dulu parah jugak mereka nak survive.

Pahang ?
Ni Najib punya hal, mereka merasakan Najib patut jadi PM maka mereka memberi sokongan padu pada Najib. 2004 Najib menang majoriti amat kecil sekali tapi sekarang more than 20,000. So sekarang Najib kena lawan Pak Lah lah pulak.

Johor -
Masih lagi kubu kuat UMNO dan BN. Tapi pecah jugak sikit. Mungkin pengundi terasa selesa dengan suasana sekarang sebab itu mereka tiada sebab untuk memilih pembangkang. Tapi hari ini rata rata menyesal tak ikut Selangor, tak pa ada masa lagi.

Melaka ?
Pun masih bertahan walaupun banyak Alternative ambil alih. Tak tahu nak kata mungkin mereka selesa atau tak da isu yang cukup kuat untuk ubah kerajaan.

Negeri Sembilan ?
Ni den tak nak komen banyak, ?kao sapo?? masih lagi kuat dikalangan mereka. KJ dah tumbang tapi naik balik, tu yang den heran. Apa apa pun PAS dapat lah jugak merasa.

Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur ?
Ambik kau, jadi pembangkang lah Khir Joyo. Ada orang hantar sms kat aku semalam ?Barang siapa yang terjumpa seorang rakyat selangor berketurunan jawa, pendek pendek sikit dengan muka perasan hensom, tolong lapur kat Balai Polis berhampiran, sebab orang ini sorok kunci pejabat Menteri Besar Selangor? hehehe?

Orang kat Selangor dan KL ni banyak tahu rahsia kerajaan maka bagi mereka, BN dah tak releven lagi, sebab itu mereka tukar kerajaan. Faktor Cina benci MCA dan India benci MIC amat kuat disini.

Defakto Anwar, mungkin jugak bro, kasi undi kat Nurul Izzah yang cun melecun tun menang (nasib baik dah kahwin). Syarizat cakap bosar sangat.

Perak Kedah dan P.Pinang
Suatu perkara yang amat mengejutkan. Penang tu kira ok lah tapi sampai ke Kedah dan Perak ni boleh tahan. Tak sangka orang disana ?marah? kepada kerajaan. Pak Lah semput tak terkata macam cicak tertelah kapur barus.

Rafidah Aziz nasib baik terselamat dari ?Tendangan Tanpa Bayang? pengundi. Kalau tak? hehehe ikutlah Latok Sami pi jaga pondok tol kat Jelapang.

Perlis ?
Tak larat nak komen, nogeri kocik, tabur duit cukup untuk semua rakyat merasa sikit sebanyak. PAS kalah teruk kat sini beb. Bukan nak kata mereka ni tolak PAS tapi mereka happy dengan Menteri Besar mereka sekarang. Nak buat camno, siam dekat hehehe.

Sabah dan Sarawak
Kalau Sabah dan Sarawak KELUAR dari Barisan Nasional dan MASUK Alternative maka BN akan jadi pembangkang kat Malaysia. Dengar tu Pak Lah.

Pak Lah and the BN Geng, kamu ini Riak, Takbur, Sombong, Bongkak, Besar Diri, Pandang Hina kat Orang, Pandang Rendah kat Orang, Terasa diri Hebat dan Megah. Kamu hina Allah Taala, Kamu hina perlembagaan dan kamu hina rakyat.

Tunggu lah kejatuhan kamu semua. TAKBIR

MR PRIME MINISTER DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING?

Mr. Prime Minister,

First there were 2,500.
Then there were 138,000.
Now there are 30,000.
Tomorrow there will be more.
The day after even more.

Mr. Prime Minister,

Do you hear them?
Do you hear the people sing?
Do you hear the song of angry men?
Do you hear the music of the people who will not keep silent any more?
Do you hear the beating of the people?s hearts?
The beating of their hearts for justice is louder than the beating your police can give.

Mr. Prime Minister,

Do you see them?
Do you see the people?s tears?
Do you see the people in a sea of yellow two kilometers long?
Do you see the tears on their faces?
The tears from their cry for democracy are more than those your tear gas can cause.

Mr. Prime Minister,

Do you feel them?
Do you feel the people?s force?
Do you feel the strength of the people who will not be marginalized and oppressed any more?
The strength of their resolve for equality is more than the force of your water canons.

Mr. Prime Minister,

Do you know them?
Do you know the people?s dream?
Do you know the dream of the people for justice, equality, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
The power of the people in their thirst for justice, is stronger than the brute force you can ever muster.

Mr Prime Minister,

Do you hear the people?

RESERVATIONS OF AN AIRLINE AGENT
(After Surviving 130,000 Calls From The Traveling Public)

I work in a central reservation office of an airline. After more than 130,000 conversations -- all ending with "Have a nice day and thanks for calling" -- I think it's fair to say that I'm a survivor.

I've made it through all the calls from adults who didn't know the difference between a.m. and p.m.,
from mothers of military recruits who didn't trust their little soldiers to get it right,
from the woman who called to get advice on how to handle her teenage daughter,
from the man who wanted to ride inside the kennel with his dog so he wouldn't have to pay for a seat,
from the woman who wanted to know why she had to change clothes on our flight between Chicago and Washington (she was told she'd have to make a change between the two cities)
and from the man who asked if I'd like to discuss the existential humanism that emanates from the soul of Habeeb.

In five years, I've received more than a boot camp education regarding the astonishing lack of awareness of our American citizenry. This lack of awareness encompasses every region of the country, economic status, ethnic background, and level of education. My battles have included everything from a man not knowing how to spell the name of the town he was from,
to another not recognizing the name of "Iowa" as being a state,
to another who thought he had to apply for a foreign passport to fly to West Virginia. They are the enemy and they are everywhere.

In the history of the world there has never been as much communication and new things to learn as today. Yet, after asking a woman from New York what city she wanted to go to in Arizona, she asked "Oh...is it a big place?"

I talked to a woman in Denver who had never heard of Cincinnati, a man in Minneapolis who didn't know there was more than one city in the South ("wherever the South is"),
a woman in Nashville who asked, "Instead of paying for my ticket, can I just donate the money to the National Cancer Society?",
and a man in Dallas who tried to pay for his ticket by sticking quarters in the pay phone he was calling from.

I knew a full invasion was on the way when, shortly after signing on, a man asked if we flew to exit 35 on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Then a woman asked if we flew to area code 304.
And I knew I had been shipped off to the front when I was asked, "When an airplane comes in, does that mean it's arriving or departing?"
I remembered the strict training we had received -- four weeks of regimented classes on airline codes, computer technology, and telephone behavior -- and it allowed for no means of retaliation. "Troops," we were told, "it's real hell out there and you got no defense. You're going to hear things so silly you can't even make 'em up. You'll try to explain things to your friends that you don't even believe yourself, and just when you think you've heard it all, someone will ask if they can get a free round-trip ticket to Europe by reciting 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'."

Well, Sarge was right. It wasn't long before I suffered a direct hit from a woman who wanted to fly to Hippopotamus, NY. After assuring her that there was no such city, she became irate and said it was a big city with a big airport. I asked if Hippopotamus was near Albany or Syracuse. It wasn't. Then I asked if it was near Buffalo. "Buffalo!" she said. "I knew it was a big animal!"

Then I crawled out of my bunker long enough to be confronted by a man who tried to catch our flight in Maconga. I told him I'd never heard of Maconga and we certainly didn't fly to it. But he insisted we did and to prove it he showed me his ticket: Macon, GA.

I've done nothing during my conversational confrontations to indicate that I couldn't understand English. But after quoting the round-trip fare the passenger just asked for, he'll always ask: "...Is that one-way?" I never understood why they always question if what I just gave them is what they just asked for. Then I realized it was part of the hell Sarge told us about.

But I've survived to direct the lost, correct the wrong, comfort the weary, teach U.S. geography and give tutoring in the spelling and pronunciation of American cities. I have been told things like: "I can't go stand-by for your flight because I'm in a wheelchair." I've been asked such questions as: "I have a connecting flight to Knoxville. Does that mean the plane sticks to something?" And once a man wanted to go to Illinois. When I asked what city he wanted to go to in Illinois, he said, "Cleveland, Ohio."

After 130,000 little wars of varying degrees, I'm a wise old veteran of the communicating conflict and can anticipate with accuracy what the next move by "them" will be. Seventy-five percent won't have anything to write on.
Half will not have thought about when they're returning. A third won't know where they're going; 10 percent won't care where they're going. A few won't care if they get back. And James will be the first name of half the men who call.

But even if James doesn't care if he gets to the city he never heard of; even if he thinks he has to change clothes on our plane that may stick to something; even if he can't spell, pronounce, or remember what city he's returning to, he'll get there because I've worked very hard to make sure that he can. Then with a click of the phone, he'll become a part of my past and I'll be hoping the next caller at least knows what day it is.

Oh, and James..."Thanks for calling and have a nice day."

Asyura Day (10 Muharam 1429H)

Hi all,

How?s life kicking you now? Hope you all can have a bit moment and read my post. Nothing much but just want to share with you one of the most important day in Islamic calendar, that is Asyura Day.

Asyura Day falls on 10th of Muharram. Muharram is the first month of Muslim calendar (Muslim calendar follows moon). Lots of stories happen during Day of Asyura but I just want to focus on one thing, that is Asyura porridge.

According Muslims history after the big flood, Prophet Noah?s ship landed on a mountain. That day they said happen on 10th of Muharram (that is called Asyura Day). After everybody got out from the ship, only a little food left for them to eat. So they decide to gather anything that can be eaten and cook (become porridge).

Yomkippur in Jewish (as a same date to Asyura) being celebrate as the day when GOD gave Torah (Old Testament) to Mosses

In my country, we celebrate that day (falls on 19 January 08), and I am the chef who gonna cook the Asyura porridge. So I shall share with you the recipe (you can try INK).

1. Gula / Sugar	10 kg
2. Manisan / Molasses (sugar came from coconut trees)	1 kg
3. Ubi Stelo / Tapioca	5 kg
4. Kacang Hijau / Green bean 3 kg (soak in the water to soften it)
5. Santan / Coconut milk 10 kg
6. Beras / Rice	10 kg
7. Kelapa parut / Desiccated coconut 1 kg (fry without oil till become brown)
8. Garam kasar / Salt	about 100 grams
9. Daging / Meat	3 kg (broil and cut into smaller pieces)
10. Jagung / Corn	6 tin

That?s the main ingredient, smaller parts are

1. Halia / Ginger	? kg
2. Lengkuas / Galangal ? kg
3.	Serai / Lemongrass	? kg
4.	Bawang Merah / Red onion 1 ? kg
5.	Bawang Puteh / Garlic 100 grams

The most important parts are the spices. These spices can only being found in Kelantan. It is the mixture of several spices and we call it Awah.

How to cook?

First of all, take a big pot, put all the rice inside there (of course you have to wash it first) and cook. Put also tapioca, green bean and corn. Add water if necessary. Cook them till all mixed up and becomes porridge (the color become dark brown). It took about 4 hours to cook it. Stir the porridge from the beginning and please do not stop at all.

At the same time all the smaller parts (ginger, galangal and others) must be fry without oil and add the Awah. Fry till its turn brown (smell pretty nice), let it cool down as you need to mix it later with the porridge.

When the first parts become porridge, add coconut milk and salt (don?t stop stir the porridge)
When all mixed up (about 2 hours later) add sugar and molasses. Cook till all mixed up (another 2 hours). The finally you can put the Awah and meat and cook it about 2 hours.
When all in and the porridge become sticky you can put it into the small pan and let it cool down for about 2 hours.

This is very delicious and tomorrow night we are going to cook it. Our plan is that we start about 9.00 p.m. and we hope that we can finish it by 10.00 am the next day.

Wanna join me? ¿¿

Enjoy? ¿¿

Bagai semalam baru bersua
Kawan dihadapan oh! Indahnya
Kita bersama berkelana

Namun kita jauh di dunia sendiri
Bekalan sendiri(semangat sendiri) Impian sendiri
Meski pun jauh namun kita tetap bersama

Kawan jangan biarkan dirimu
Seperti rama-rama
Cantik namun akhirnya menjadi perhiasan di dinding
Kawan jangan biarkan dirimu
Umpama lipan dan kala
Berbisa namun akhirnya menjadi perhiasan di meja tulis

Oh! Kawan jadilah seperti si matahari

Once a man went to a Veterinary Doctor in India and said:

Man	: Doctor I have come on vacation for a month so that I can get myself treated fully within this period.

Doctor	: I think you should go to the Doctor opposite to my clinic, see that board.

Man	: No, Doctor, I have come to you only

Doctor	: But, gentleman I am a Veterinary Doctor. I am an animal specialist. I do not treat human beings.

Man	: I know, Doctor very well and that is why I have come to you only...

Doctor	: I can not, because you speak like me, think like me, talk like me which means you are a human being and not an animal.

Man	: I know I am a human but listen to my complaints first:

Doctor	: OK. Tell me.

Man:
I sleep like dog thinking about my work load whole night.
I get up in the morning like a horse
I go to work running like a deer
I work all the day like a donkey
I run around for 11 months like a bull without any holiday.
I wag my tail in front of all my bosses
I play with my children like a monkey if I get time.
I am like a rabbit before my wife

Doctor	: are you a Bank Employee?

Man	: Yes !!

Doctor	: Instead of telling this long history you should have told me in the beginning itself that you are a Bank Employee. Come man, no one can treat you better than me.

(Pass this massage to all Bank employees. Let them know their real life.)

Salam Idil Adha 1428H

Salam Idil Adha 1428H

To all my beloved friends and families, I wish and wish all of you a happy idil adha,
Remember
The sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Prophet Ishmae

Briefly on Hajj

The Hajj was based on a pilgrimage that was ancient even in the time of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w in the 7th Century. According to Hadith, elements of the Hajj trace back to the time of Abraham, around 2000 BC, and it is believed that the angel Gabriel, who revealed the location of the Zamzam Well, taught the rites of the pilgrimage to Abraham's son, Prophet Ishmael.

Each year, tribes from all around the Arabian peninsula would converge on Mecca, as part of the pilgrimage. The exact faith of the tribes was not important at that time, and Christian Arabs were as likely to make the pilgrimage as the pagans. Muslim historians refer to the time before Prophet Muhammad as al-Jahiliyah, the "Days of Ignorance", during which the Kaaba contained hundreds of idols representing totems of each of the tribes of the Arabian peninsula. The idols represented multiple faiths, from pagan gods to symbols of Jesus, Mary, Hubal and Allah.

Prophet Muhammad was known to regularly perform the Umrah, even before he began receiving revelations. Historically, Muslims would gather at various meeting points in other great cities, and then proceed en masse towards Mecca, in groups that could comprise tens of thousands of pilgrims. Two of the most famous meeting points were in Cairo and Damascus. In Cairo, the Sultan would stand atop a platform of the famous gate Bab Zuwayla, to officially watch the beginning of the annual pilgrimage.

In 632, when Prophet Muhammad led his followers from Medina to Mecca, it was the first Hajj to be performed by Muslims alone, and it was at this point that the Hajj became one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The Kaaba had been cleansed of the previous idols, and Prophet Muhammad ordained it as the house of God.

How to stay cancer free,From Johns Hopkins Hospital

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY (TRY THE KEY WORD) AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHN HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .

Cancer Update from John Hopkins
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruit help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts)and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

(PLEASE FORWARD IT TO PEOPLE YOU CARE ABOUT)

CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS HOSPITAL , U S - PLEASE READ

1. No plastic containers in micro.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as these release dioxins from the plastic.

Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food.

You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons. Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt the plastic out and drip into the food. Cover food instead with a paper towel.

This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life.

F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.

He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed, God's still small voice came to me and said,

"While dealing with a stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.

Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.

"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."

I said, "Son, I'm v ery sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."

I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in
a matter of days.

But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we ...

An Amazing Love Story

An amazing Love Story

He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he so normal; nobody paid attention to him. At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she promised. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she felt uncomfortable, she thought, please, let me go home.... Suddenly he asked the waiter. "Would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee."

Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it. She asked him curiously; why you have this hobby? He replied: "when I was a little boy, I was living near the sea, I like playing in the sea, I could feel the taste of the sea, just like the taste of the salty coffee. Now every time I have the salty coffee, I always think of my childhood, think of my hometown, I miss my hometown so much, I miss my parents who are still living there". While saying that tears filled his eyes. She was deeply touched.

That's his true feeling, from the bottom of his heart. A man, who can tell out his homesickness, he must be a man who loves home, cares about home, and has responsibility of home. Then she also started to speak, spoke about her faraway hometown, her childhood, her family. That was a really nice talk, also a beautiful beginning of their story.

They continued to date. She found that actually he was a man who meets all her demands; he had tolerance, was kind hearted, warm, careful. He was such a good person but she almost missed him! Thanks to his salty coffee! Then the story was just like every beautiful love story, the princess married to the prince, and then they were living the happy life... And, every time she made coffee for him, she put some salt in the coffee e, as she knew that's the way he liked it.

After 40 years, he passed away, left her a letter, which said: "M...

Somebody told me a short story,
One day a guy came to a barbershop to cut his hair and trim his beard. While entertaining the guy, they start to chat till they came to one topic, GOD.

The barber told the guy, ?I don?t believe that GOD exist? Why? Ask the guy. ?Look at this world, full of pain, suffer, hatred, hunger, look around you. If GOD exist then people will live in peace and harmony.?

The guy keep quiet, don?t want to start argument. When the barber finish his work, the guy pay him and start walking towards the door. Suddenly he saw a man with long and dirty hair. The guy turn to the barber and say ? I don?t believe that barber exist, look around you, still lots of people with long and dirty hair?

The barber shocks and says ? I am here, they just don?t come to me to cut their hair?. ?That?s the point? say the guy. ?GOD exists but people don?t come to GOD?

A Polish man moved to the USA and married an American girl.

Although his English was far from perfect, they got along very well until one day he rushed into a lawyer's office and asked him if he could arrange a divorce for him.

The lawyer said that getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances, and asked him the following questions:

L: Have you any grounds?
P: Yes, an acre and half and nice little home.

L: No, I mean what is the foundation of this case?
P: It made of concrete.

L: I don?t think you understand. Does either of you have a real grudge?
P: No, we have carport, and not need one.

L: I mean. What are your relations like?
P: All my relations still in Poland.

L: Is there any infidelity in your marriage?
P: We have hi-fidelity stereo and good DVD player.

L: Does your wife beat you up?
P: No, I always up before her.

L: Is your wife a nagger?
P: No, she whites.

L: Why do you want this divorce?
P: She going to kill me.

L: What makes you think that?
P: I got proof.

L: What kind of proof?
P: She going to poison me. She buys a bottle at drugstore and put on shelf in bathroom. I can read, and it says: ?Polish Remover?.

Wanna Apply for A Leave

Imagine when you apply for leave from your boss, he answers you like this

"You want to apply for one day leave? Anything else you want from the company?"

In a year, you work 365 days.
1 year got 52 weeks, every week you rest for 2 days, then left 261 days working.
Everyday you have 16 hours of not working, so minus 170 days, left 91days of work.
Everyday you spent 30 minutes drinking coffee, sum up is about 23 days, so you left 68 days working.
Everyday you spend 1 hour for lunch, then minus 46 days again left 22 days.
Usually you apply 2 days sick leave every year, you still left 20 days working.
Every year have 5 days holidays for festival or whatever, then you just work for 15 days. Again, company every year gives you 14 days leave?

THEN ! You ONLY WORK FOR 1 DAY!!!

Damn!! You still want to apply 1 day leave???

5. You walk out of the hut... as you carry on your walk in the forest...you see a waterfall from far... there is water running down... What is the speed of the water? (Choose a number ranging from 0 to 10)

6. Some time after the waterfall... you step on something hard on the ground... as you look down... you see glistening gold in color. You bend down and picks it up... it is a key-chain chained with keys...How many key/keys you see hanging on the key-chain?(Choose a number ranging from 1 to 10)

7. You walk on and on... trying to find your way out... suddenly you see a castle. What is the condition of the castle? (Old/new)

8. You enter the castle and saw a pool of murky water with shining jewels floating on it...Will you pick up the jewel? (YES/NO)

9. Next to the murky pool... there's another pool... with clear water and money floating on it...Will you pick the money? (YES/NO)

10. Walking to the end of the castle there is an exit... you proceed to walk out of the castle. Outside the exit, there is big garden; you see a box on the ground. What is the size of the box? (Small/medium/big)

11. What is the material of the box? (Cardboard/paper/wooden/metal)

12. There is a bridge in the garden some distance away from the box, What is the bridge made of? (Metal/wooden/rattan)

13. Across the bridge, there is a horse. What is the color of the horse?
(White/Grey/brown/black)

(14) What is the horse doing? (Still and quiet/nibbling grass/running about)

OH NO! There is a tornado coming... some distance from the horse.
You have 3 options:
(I) Run and hide in the box?
(ii) Run and hide under the bridge?
(iii) Run to the horse, ride on and gallop away?

*The Husband Store! *

A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates. You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!

You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the Building!

So one day, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband.

On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
*Floor 1 -* These men have jobs and love the Lord.
The second floor sign reads:
*Floor 2 -* These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.
The third floor sign reads:
*Floor 3 -* These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are extremely good looking.
"Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:
*Floor 4 - *These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop- dead good looking and help with the housework.
"Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:
*Floor 5 -* These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop- dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:
*Floor 6 - *You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.

Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Please send this to all men for a good laugh and to all the *women who can handle the truth. *

Analysis Of The Draft Bill For The Proposed Inter-Faith Commission
By Zainur Zakaria

The proposal to set up the Inter-faith Commission was met by strong opposition by Muslim organizations, groups and individuals. Their underlying fear is that the proposed Commission in the exercise of its function and role would encroach into, transgress and interfere with Islam and the Syariah. The proponents of the proposed Commission on the other hand argue that the Commission has no such intention and such perception is entirely misconceived. Whatever may be said by those who support or oppose the setting up of the Commission, disagreement on the issue will not dissipate.

The purpose of this paper is to examine in detail the draft Bill on the setting up of the Commission, which was intended to have been tabled before Parliament but has been shelved due to opposition aforesaid. This paper seeks to examine in particular the functions and powers of the proposed Commission and other relevant provisions of the draft Bill for a clear understanding and appreciation of their effect.

Proponents of the Commission have tried to allay the fears of the Muslim community by strenuous persuasion that the proposed Commission shall only undertake advisory, consultative and conciliatory role in the discharge of their statutory functions. If that be so, then why should there be all the furore and opposition to the proposed Commission? Can the assurance by the proponents be sustained upon a close examination of the provisions of the draft Bill?

Let us begin by looking at the provisions pertaining to the functions of the Commission as stipulated under section 4 of the draft Bill. I do not propose to deal with and every function of the proposed Commission, but only those that I feel are of significance; and among those of particular significance are those functions stipulated in sections 4(1)(a), (b), (d), (f), (g), (h) and (j) of the draft Bill.

If one scrutinizes the functions of the proposed Commission referred to in the above sections, particularly with regard to the words used therein, then one may be able to understand and appreciate the extent and scope of the functions of the proposed Commission and the effect the exercise of such functions may have or impact upon matters of Islamic law, precepts and beliefs. This undoubtedly is the main cause for concern among those Muslims groups or individuals who came out in opposition to the proposed Commission.

Before we proceed to consider those particular functions, I wish to refer to a case decided by the then Supreme Court on 8 November 1991 i.e. Dalip Kaur v Pegawai Polis Daerah Bukit Mertajam & Anor [1992] 1 MLJ at pg 1. The above case concerns the foremost questions as to whether the deceased had renounced Islam during his lifetime.

The facts of the case are as follows. The appellant (Dalip Kaur) had applied for a declaration that her deceased son at the time of his death on 3 October 1991 was not a Muslim and/or had renounced the Islamic faith and for the consequential declaration she was entitled to the body of the deceased. The deceased was born a Sikh and brought up in the Sikh faith. He converted to Islam on 1 June 1991 before the District Kadi of Kulim and the conversion was duly registered with the Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Kedah in accordance with section 139 of the Kedah Administration of Muslim Law Enactment 1962. The appellant had contended that subsequent to the conversion, the deceased had by a deed poll on 9 September 1991 renounced the Islamic faith and resumed the practice of the Sikh faith. It was also alleged that deceased had been rebaptized by a Sikh priest at a Sikh temple and that the deceased had regularly attended the congregation at the Sikh temple. It was also contended that the deceased continued to eat pork and had not circumcised. There was evidence that the deceased was engaged to be married to a Muslim girl and that the marriage was scheduled to take place on 25 November 1991. At the trial before the High Court, the learned Judicial Commissioner found that the signature on the deed poll was not that of the deceased and he also rejected the evidence of the Sikh priest and that of the deceased?s brother with regard to the baptism and the congregation at the Sikh temple. He held that the deceased was a Muslim at the time of his death. The appellant appealed. At the hearing of the appeal, the Supreme Court remitted the case to the High Court for the learned Judicial Commissioner to refer certain questions of Islamic law that arose to the Fatwa Committee of Kedah. This was done and after receiving the fatwa, the learned Judicial Commissioner confirmed his earlier findings and decision. The appellant appealed.

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal. Hashim Yeop Sani CJ (Malaya)(as he then was) held among other things, that the learned Judicial Commissioner was entitled to accept the answers of the Fatwa Committee to the questions which were referred to it and which were agreed by all parties. The Fatwa Committee was of the opinion that the deceased was a Muslim as he had duly converted to Islam and there was no decision of a Syariah Court, which decided that, he, had renounced or left the Islamic faith.

Justice Mohamed Yusof SCJ (as he then was) held that the foremost question to be determined was whether the deceased had renounced Islam during his lifetime, and the only forum qualified to answer the question is the Syariah Court, and went on to say:

?It is apparent from the observations made by the learned Judicial Commissioner that the determination of the question whether a person was a Muslim or had renounced the faith of Islam before death, transgressed into the realm of Syariah law, which needs serious considerations and proper interpretation of such law. Without proper authority to support his contention, it is not sufficient to say whether there is or there is not a condition precedent for a person to become a Muslim; or that if the deceased were proved to have said his prayers at a Sikh temple he was definitely an apostate.

?The present question, in my view, cannot be determined by a simple application on the facts as has been found by learned Judicial Commissioner on the basis of veracity and relevancy of evidence according to civil law. Such a serious issue would, to my mind, need consideration by eminent jurists who are properly qualified in the field of Islamic jurisprudence.

?On this view it is imperative that the determination of the question in issue requires substantial consideration of the Islamic law by relevant jurists qualified to do so. The only forum qualified to do so is the Syariah Court.?

In the case of Majlis Ugama Islam Pulau Pinang lwn Isa Abdul Rahman & Satu Yang Lain [1992] 2 MLJ at pg 244, the then Supreme Court ruled that when a civil court hears a claim for an order (and the order that is applied for did not fall withing the jurisdiction of the Syariah Court to issue) the civil court should hear the claim and if, in the course of such hearing, a question of Hukum Syarak should arise, the parties involved may call experts in the religion of Islam to give evidence at the hearing; or the Court can refer the question to the Fatwa Committee concerned for a ruling on the matter.

From the above decisions it is therefore evidently clear, that in any proceedings in the civil court, should there arise questions that transgress into the realm of Islamic law or relate to Hukum Syarak, such questions must be dealt with in one of three ways, i.e. (1) by the Syariah Court, (2) the court can refer such questions to the Fatwa Committee of the relevant Majlis Agama Islam (Council for Muslim Religion), or (3) experts may be called to give evidence at the hearing.

Opinion from Muslim religious experts were relied upon by the High Court in the case of Hajjah Halimatussadiah bte Hj Kamaruddin v Public Services Commission Malaysia [1992] 1 MLJ at pg 513 when it had to decide the question as to whether the religion of Islam requires a Muslim woman to cover her body, including her face, except for her eyes.

Now, one may ask what is the relevance of these cases in relation to the functions and powers of the proposed Commission; after all, the proposed Commission shall perform such functions only in an advisory, consultative and conciliatory capacity [section 4(2) of the draft Bill] and has no power to make any determination on questions of Islamic law or matters pertaining to the beliefs or precepts of the religion of Islam. My reason for making reference to the above cases is to highlight the position taken by our highest civil court when it comes to questions or matters of Islamic law, beliefs or precepts and the approach to be taken in the determination of such law, beliefs or precepts. The position taken by our highest court as to the approach or manner, whether such issues or matters pertaining to Islamic law, precepts or beliefs should be dealt with, reflect as to how important it is that such matters be dealt with in the appropriate way so as to avoid friction between the religious communities. The reason why I have referred to the aforesaid cases is because of the wide scope of the functions and powers of the proposed Commission and the effect of the exercise of such functions and powers.

Apart from the functions and powers under section 4(1) which I have referred to, one also has to look at the other relevant and significant provisions of the draft Bill, in particular section 5 - Powers of the Commission, section 16 - Inquiries, section 17 - Conciliation, Mediation and Negotiation, and section 19 - Results of Action by Commission. Let us now look at these sections in greater detail.

Section 4 - Functions of Commission

Section 4(1)(a) reads:

?Advance, promote, and protect every individual?s freedom of thought conscience and religion.?

This provision is extremely vague, wide and far-reaching. The words ?advance, promote, and protect? are very wide in their scope and application. Take an example. What if the views expressed by a certain Muslim individual is considered blasphemous (mencaci Tuhan atau agama) by the religious authorities, will the proposed Commission get involved and protect such individual and should it decide to protect such individual, will it be canvassing or arguing views or opinions opposed to that of the religious authorities?

Two questions then immediately come to mind. Firstly, does the proposed Commission have the right to do so, and is such an involvement consonant with its overall function as an advisory, consultative and conciliatory body? Secondly, is the proposed Commission comprised of a body of persons who are ?properly qualified? in the field of Islamic jurisprudence and can claim to have the authority to determine whether the views in question are blasphemous or otherwise, bearing in mind that the members of the proposed Commission will also comprise those belonging to other religious faiths. Apart from these non-Muslim members of the proposed Commission, who are undoubtedly not properly qualified to determine questions of Islamic law and matters pertaining to the precepts or beliefs of the religion of Islam, are the Muslim members of the proposed Commission themselves properly qualified?

The qualification for membership of the proposed Commission is found in section 8(1) of the draft Bill which reads as follows:-

?Members of the commission shall be persons of integrity and of good character with experience in the promotion of religious of religious harmony?.

Thus the requirements for membership are (1) integrity, (2) good character, and (3) experience in the promotion of religious harmony. Nothing is mentioned about the member having the proper qualification in the field of religious jurisprudence or the like. Thus the proposed Commission may comprise of members who though professing the faith, may not be properly qualified to deal with religious issues or matters which the proposed Commission seeks to ?advance, promote and protect.? The anxiety and concern felt by the Muslim community is that matters of Islamic law, precepts and beliefs may be interpreted by those who are not suitably and properly qualified to do so. This is simply not acceptable.

I will briefly touch on the other functions to show why there is a great deal of concern among Muslims. Take for instance section 4(1)(b); it speaks of ?identify values and ethical standards universal to all religions, faiths, beliefs and ways of life with a view to promoting same.? What does ?identity values and ethical standards universal to all religions, faiths, beliefs and ways of life? mean? Then there is section 4(1)(d), which reads as follows:

?Receive, address and make recommendation ... in connection with the individual?s right to profess and practice his religion or faith of choice?.

In the course of ?identifying values? and making ?recommendations?, will the proposed Commission be dealing with religious precepts and beliefs? Will the proposed Commission in its effort to promote these ?values and ethical standards? be expressing its views on the precepts and beliefs of the religion in question? When making recommendation under section 4(1)(d), will the Commission be formulating certain views on the religious issue which it feels may have contravened or impinged upon the ?individual?s right to profess and practice his religion or faith of choice.?

Above are some of the functions of the proposed Commission, which by the very words used to describe such functions, have caused a great deal of anxiety, concern and anger among Muslims.

Apart from the functions of the proposed Commission, let us look at the powers it seeks to have. Section 5 of the draft Bill deals with the powers of the Commission. Take for example section 5(1)(d) i.e. ?To study and verify any infringement of religious harmony? in accordance with the provisions of this Act. Infringement of religious harmony has been defined under section 2 of the proposed draft Bill as - ?includes an act or omission which has as its effect the nullification or impairment, enjoyment or exercise by any person or community of persons of his or their freedom of thought, conscience, religions or belief as prescribed by international norms subject only to such limitations as arise under article 11(5) of the Federal Constitution.?

It will be observed that the definition of ?religious harmony? i.e. that as prescribed by ?international norms? subject to such limitations as arise from article 11(5) of the Federal Constitution, would clearly exclude any consideration of Islamic law, precepts, beliefs and practices. The foundation upon which the definition of religious harmony is based on, i.e. international norms, though subject to such limitations under article 11(5) of the Federal Constitution, is incompatible with Islam, since Islam comprises not only the beliefs and precepts but also laws that govern and regulate the life of every Muslim. And it cannot be denied that there are international norms that are incompatible with Islamic law, beliefs or precepts. Thus the definition of ?religious harmony? in the draft Bill can give rise to friction in the discharge by the proposed Commission of its powers under section 5(1)(d).

Then we have sections 5(1)(f) and 5(1)(h). Section 5(1)(f) gives the proposed Commission the powers to:

?issue public statements on infringements of religious harmony or on anything touching as and when necessary?.

Section 5(1)(h) gives the proposed Commission the power to:

?to resolve any dispute or rectify any act of omission, emanating from or constituting an infringement of religious harmony by means of mediation, negotiation or conciliation?.

Though the proposed Commission is meant to be only an advisory, consultative or conciliatory body, how is it going to go about discharging the above powers without affecting sensitive religious issues and sentiments.

Consider also its powers under sections 16 and 17. Section 16 deals with the holding of inquiries. In order to determine whether there has been any infringement of religious harmony, the proposed Commission is empowered to take (which of course includes ?to accept or reject?) opinion from religious experts (section 16(2)(b)); to examine witnesses (section 16(2)(a)); to summon any person to give evidence, produce documents and to be examined (section 16(2)(d)) (which may include the head of the religious departments or anyone for that matter who in the view of the proposed Commission may be relevant) and to question such witnesses.

Can one discount the possibility of an ulama who is the head of the religious authority in a particular State being summoned to appear before the Commission to answer allegations of infringement of religious harmony and to be questioned and examined in matters of the religion or an expert having his opinion rejected by persons who are not properly qualified.

Notwithstanding that the draft Bill speaks of the proposed Commission being an advisory, consultative and conciliatory body, consider the effect of section 19 of the draft Bill, and in particular section 19(3) which states:-

?All organs of State shall have regard to the findings and recommendations of the Commission?.

Though the results and findings of the proposed Commission may not be binding on the relevant authorities, the word ?shall have regard? carries with it an important and far- reaching connotation. The New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary explains the word ?regard? as ?to take heed, take into account, pay attention to.? Though the draft Bill contains no provision for the enforcement of such findings or sanctions for disregard, it is simply unacceptable for the Muslim community that organs of State including the relevant Ministry, religious department, Syariah Courts, Fatwa Committee and the like should be required to take heed of the findings and recommendations of the proposed Commission.

The above are some of the provisions of the draft Bill which in my view are of grave concern to the Muslim community. After having considered them, it is my view that the concern and anxiety expressed by the Muslim bodies, organizations and individuals over the proposed Inter-faith Commission are not unreasonable

Part 1

Allied Coordinating Committee of Islamic N.G.O.s (ACCIN) urges the Malaysian Government not to countenance in any way, the formation of the Inter-Religious Commission (IRC) by certain non-Muslim organizations, principally the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Sikhism (MCCBCHS), and the Bar Council.

REASONS for NON-COUNTENANCE :

1. CLEAR ANTI-ISLAM MOTIVES
According to a memorandum submitted by the MCCBCHS to the Bar Council, the MCCBCHS position on certain Islamic matters can be summarized as follows:

- Muslims should have the right to renounce Islam even if Islam does not allow it.
- Article 11 of the Federal Constitution should be the governing law on the question of a Muslim?s right to apostasies, and not the Shariah
- To facilitate apostasy, the Civil Courts (and not the Shariah Courts) should have the jurisdiction to determine the ?right? of a Muslim to renounce his religion.
- Efforts made by the State Shariah authorities to rehabilitate would-be apostates ?are questionable?.
- The definition of ?Muslim? under the relevant State Enactment is ?too wide? even if consistent with the Shariah.
- Nobody should be regarded as a Muslim by reason of both of his or her parents being Muslims; the individual concerned should choose and profess Islam of his own volition.
- In any case, a Muslim?s Identity Card should not disclose his religion.

Many of the above items being concerned with either direct teaching of Islam or connected to it ; and applicable only to Muslims, ACCIN iterates that no one has the right to question them, not even Muslims, let alone non-Muslims! The MCCBCHS memo is simply a crude, rude and insensitive attempt at interfering with Muslims? way of life and the teachings of Islam. Having a statutory body to facilitate such interference does not legitimize it, rather it imperils religious harmony. The non-Muslim dominated Bar Council on its part, has gone to great lengths to ensure the success of the IRC-idea, regardless of the objections of its Muslim members in the Shariah Sub-Committee.
2. ARTICLE 11, FEDERAL CONSTITUTION

Article 11 of the Federal Constitution: ?Every person has the right to profess and practise his religion and?. to propagate it?. None of the matters raised in the MCCBCHS memo and summarised above concern non-Muslims.
Clearly, the right of non-Muslims to practise their respective religions does not include any right to interfere with the teachings of Islam, much less demand that these be changed to their advantage.

3. STATUS OF ISLAM AS THE OFFICIAL RELIGION OF THE COUNTRY

The IRC, once established, would no doubt undermine the status of Islam as the official religion of this country. Further, it would make a mockery of the Agong and the Sultans as official heads of the religion of Islam in this country.
The IRC would most certainly interfere with existing constitutional arrangements for the administration of Islamic matters, which are vested in the Rulers, the State Islamic Councils and other bodies and Islamic officials. The IRC will be met with resistance from such quarters. The implications for Muslim unity, Federal-State relations and viability of Islamic administration (already plagued with problems) are serious.

IRC, A ?DIALOGUE BODY??

Based on the minutes of meeting of the Organising Committee for the setting up of the IRC, the IRC is intended to be a body comprising Muslim and non-Muslim representatives of their respective religions who will be authorised to receive complaints (of the nature listed above) from the followers of any religion against another religion, and to make decisions to redress their grievances even to the extent of changing the teachings of the ?offending? religion, and enforcing its decisions in the manner of a court of law (adjudicatory powers). It is therefore not a ?dialogue body? as claimed, but rather a ?grievance redressal body?.

NOTHING LIKE IT!

The members of the Organising Committee have been challenged by ACCIN to give an example of an inter-faith or at least an intra-faith organisation from anywhere in the world armed with the powers that they hope to vest the IRC with. To date they have not been able to do.

The IRC has the potential to interfere with the teachings of any religion against the wishes of the relevant religious authorities, and this will most certainly lead to retaliatory complaints. A free-for-all may develop where the followers of any religion may complain against the teachings of other religions only because of complaints made against the teachings of their religion. This would seriously threaten religious harmony in this country, rather than foster understanding and harmonious relationships.

HUMAN RIGHT IS FOR SUHAKAM

It is a well known fact that minority religions in Malaysia are enjoying freedom of their respective religious practices, to a degree not enjoyed by Muslims in any non-Muslim country. Further, SUHAKAM already provides a venue for any human right grievances. There is no need for another discrete human rights body to deal with the question of the right to practice one?s religion. In its present form, SUHAKAM is the much more suitable body as it does not interfere with the teachings of any religion though it has adequate powers to deal with restrictions on the right of an individual to practice his or her religion and to deal with complaints from any religious authority. It can make recommendations to the Government for changes to laws and policies rather than impose solutions, which insensitively interfere with the teachings of religions. It offers an appropriately emollient approach to this most sensitive of matters and is more likely to succeed.

CONCLUSION

The Government is urged to reject the IRC proposal. Allowing it, even in the mildest form would be an invitation to further demands to strengthen it, till it can effectively undermine Islam in this country. This clearly is the aim of the sponsors of this diabolical ?proposal?.

Al' Israa' and Al Mi'raj (Night Journey and Ascension)

One of the most important lessons of the journey of Al-Israa' and Al-Mi`raj (Night Journey and Ascension) is that it highlights the high status that Al-Aqsa Mosque has in the Muslim Ummah. It was to Al-Aqsa Mosque that the Night Journey of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was made and from it that the Prophet's ascension to the Heavens took place. The journey of Al-Israa' was a sign that the leadership of the world would move to the Muslim Ummah. Such leadership was based on mercy and justice, not on oppression and aggression.

Another significant lesson of Al-Israa' and Al-Mi`raj is knowing the importance of prayer; it is through prayer that one can directly communicate with his Almighty Lord.
The eminent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi sheds light on this issue:

Al-Israa' was a land-to-land journey that Allah Almighty caused His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to make from Makkah to Jerusalem, that is, from Almighty Allah's Sacred House to Al-Aqsa Mosque. (Glorified be He Who carried His servant by night from the Inviolable Place of Worship to the Far Distant Place of Worship the neighborhood whereof We have blessed)(Al-Israa? 17: 1) [The Inviolable Place of Worship mentioned in this verse refers to Allah's Sacred House and the Far Distant Place of Worship refers to Al-Aqsa Mosque.]

Mind that Allah Almighty had blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and its neighborhood and referred to it even before even the Prophet's Mosque was built, as the Prophet's Mosque was established after his immigration to Madinah.
Mind also that when Prayer was ordained on the Muslims, Al-Aqsa Mosque was the qiblah to which they were to turn during Prayer. They would turn their faces in Prayer towards it for three years in Makkah, and for 16 months in Madinah before the qiblah was changed to Allah's Sacred House.

Besides, Al-Aqsa Mosque is one of the three mosques to which Muslims are required to dedicate time for visiting; the other two mosques are the Sacred Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. This shows that Jerusalem is the third sacred place after Makkah and Madinah in Islam.

Allah Almighty wanted to establish and emphasize the significance and sacredness of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Muslims' hearts so that they do not cede it for anything. They are to hold it as sacre d as both Allah's Sacred House and His Prophet's Mosque. That was why the Muslims [when they were strong] were zealous to keep Al-Aqsa Mosque under their rule and protection. Hence, Muslims must realize the importance of Jerusalem in their history and the significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque in their religion and life.

Allah Almighty wills that we remember the importance of Al-Aqsa Mosque when we celebrate the anniversary of Al-Israa' and Al-Mi`raj. This is to remind us of the gravity of the circumstances in which Al-Aqsa Mosque is in this age. We must not give up our responsibility in defending Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem. This is a sacred issue to fight for. Brothers and sisters, we should not, under any circumstances, give up our role in that regard.
The Jews dreamed of establishing a state (in the land of Palestine) and managed to achieve that dream. That being so, we at least must not give up hope that one day we will again have Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem under our control. We should not lose hope of that at all, even if we see surrender embodied everywhere in our status quo. We must believe that Allah Almighty is with us and that He Almighty will grant us victory and make Islam prevail, as He, Most High, always supports the true believ ers.

Imams Ahmad and At-Tabarani reported on the authority of Abu Imama Al-Bahilai (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A group of my nation will keep being in the side of right and victorious over its enemy; no party of their enemy can cause them harm; the only harm that may afflict them is (physical) exhaustion. They would be like so until the Day of Judgment." The Prophet's Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "Where would they be, Allah's Messenger?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "In Jerusalem and the surrounding vicinity."

The second most important lesson that we are to learn from Al-Israa' and Al-Mi`raj is concerning Prayer (salah). It is known that Prayer was ordained on that great night. It is because of the great importance of Prayer that Allah Almighty ordained it in heaven. He Almighty sent His Messenger to mankind (peace and blessings be upon him) and caused him to go on a night journey and ascend to heaven and the Lote Tree to inform him (peace and blessings be upon him) of the ordinance of Prayer.

Mind that all other ordinances were decreed on the earth. This indicates how important Prayer is in Islam. It symbolizes ascension to heaven; it is the Muslim's spiritual ascension to heaven. Thus, Prayer is the gift that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought with him from that journey to all Muslims so that they can worship Allah Almighty through it.

Prayer had to do with Al-Aqsa Mosque. Al-Aqsa Mosque was the first qiblah in Islam. If it is true that Al-Israa? took place in the tenth year of the Prophet's mission, this would mean that the Muslims' qiblah in Prayer was towards Al-Aqsa Mosque for three years before the Hijrah to Madinah and 16 months after it.

Then Almighty Allah decreed that the qiblah be changed towards the Sacred Mosque. Allah Almighty says:(So turn thy face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship, and ye (O Muslims), wheresoever ye may be, turn your faces when ye pray) toward it.)(Al-Baqarah 2: 143)
When the qiblah was changed, the Jews raised doubts about that. Allah Almighty says:(The foolish of the people will say: What hath turned them from the qiblah which they formerly observed?)(Al-Baqarah 2: 142)
The Jews spread rumors that the Muslims' Prayer [to the first qiblah] was invalid and so would not be rewarded. Allah Almighty refuted their claims as He, most High says: (And We appointed the qiblah which ye formerly observed only that We might know him who followeth the Messenger from him who turneth on his heels. In truth it was a hard (test) save for those whom Allah guided. But it was not Allah's purpose that your faith should be in vain, for Allah is full of pity, Merciful toward mankind.)(Al-Baqarah 2: 143) According to this verse, "your faith" refers to Prayer, as Prayer is a symbol of one's faith.

To sum up, Prayer is the spiritual means through which Muslims can ascend to their Lord. If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended to heaven (once), we, brothers and sisters, could spiritually ascend to there as much as we can through Prayer.

Allah Almighty says in a qudsi (divine) hadith: "I have divided the Prayer into two halves between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks. When the servant says, 'Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the universe,' Allah the Most High says, 'My servant has praised Me.' And when he (the servant) says, 'The Most Compassionate, the Merciful,' Allah the Most High says, 'My servant has lauded Me.' And when he (theservant) says, 'Master of the Day of judgment,' He Almighty remarks, 'My servant has glorified Me.' And when he (the worshiper) says, 'Thee do we worship and of Thee do we ask help,' He Almighty says, 'This is between Me and My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for.' Then, when he (the worshiper) says, 'Guide us to the straight path, the path of those to whom Thou hast been Gracious not of those who have incurred Thy displeasure, nor of those who have gone astray,' He (Allah Almighty) says, 'This is for My servant, and My servant will receive what he asks for.'"

MISYAR MARRIAGE

Misyar Marriage.

This is absolutely my opinion only and you may comment on it, thank you.

Misyar marriage is a marriage without a financial obligation to the second, third and forth wives.

Example:

I already married with 3 kids. (First marriage/first wife)

Then, I married 3 more women
1. a widow age 40 with 2 young kids
2. a widow age 35 without kids
3. a single woman age 35

All three of them are financial freedom that means they do not depend on me on daily needs.

It is different than polygamy as polygamy you (husband) have to support everything to all your wives.

The reason why Islam allowed Misyar marriage is that;

1. Woman need companion, at least they have a husband that they share their problems, share their filling, share their sexual needs, raising their kids and so on.
2. Misyar marriage does not apply to young woman. In Malaysia, as far as I know, young woman is consider below 30 years old. After the age of 30, it is hard for a woman to get a husband.
3. Lots of women nowadays are financial stable, have car, house, and a secure job but for a married man, he have lots of things to think. To have another wife without strong financial backgrounds is very difficult.

Polygamy is considered as men?s pride as they can married more than one woman. Misyar marriage is considered as men?s responsibilities towards society. They did not marry because of sex, or beautiful face/body that woman have. They marry women because to protect women from fitnah, or because kids have no father or she need a guidance or she need someone to share problems.

Hmmm? hard for me to explain details as I am not good in english.
