muhammad(pbuh)the best of a best man kind Posted on Sep 29, 2006 at 01:43 PM
There was a time in my youth, When Islam was only a custom. They said "say La Ilaha Illa Allah,.. And pray, you'll go to Heaven." Ah, how simple, no struggle in this, Just a word, and simple act. Thereafter I'm absorbed in this world again, With my 'assured' place in Paradise intact. But this was not to be my fate For ALLAH chose to guide my heart. I learnt of a man who struggled so hard When his mission was from the start. The story of someone who had morals, Spoke gently, kindness he knew. Never fearing to say what's right, His conviction in ISLAM was true. The touch of his hand was as soft as silk To comfort a crying child. To mend his clothes, or do the chores, Never complaining, he always smiled. A living he made with his bare hands, The same that held his mighty sword. Valour shone from the edge of his blade, His smell was always of musk, And cleanliness he kept at his best. Stark contrast with the heroes of today, Who stink of beer and sweat. He held the hands of his companions. Unashamed to play with many children. So modest, so humble, a perfect example, That strangers could not recognise him. His eyes slept little for nights were precious, His prayers he treasured much greater. To pray Tahajjud in the depths of night, Seeking forgiveness, and nearness to his Creator. He broke his tooth for me at Uhud, And bled for me at Ta'if. He cried for me, tears of concern, Just so I could have this belief. His enemies admired his teachings, Uniting every religion, every clan. Till ISLAM came to every corner of the world, O, but indeed he was only a man. To own a house, or build his wealth Was not his main priority. To establish ISLAM was more essential, To bring us under a Higher Authority. Don't you want him to plea for your case, When before ALLAH-The Judge-you stand? Don't you wish to be around his fountain, A burning desire to drink from his hand? So I love him more than all creation, My Leader, my Humble Prophet. Muhammad (SAWS) was a mercy to all mankind, And to me, he is my Beloved
over eating in ramadan Posted on Sep 26, 2006 at 08:43 AM
Overeating?Ramadan?it sounds familiar, doesn?t it? Actually, many people compensate for the meal missed during the day at iftar because the body is deprived of food for a long period of time. However, overeating does not help; we usually eat more than what is needed to compensate. Our aim at iftar should be to eat only as much as we need to provide us with the energy necessary to do both our work and worship. This means we should eat in moderation. The idea of moderation is an inherent part of Islam. Allah has provided us with helpful tips on how to moderate our behaviors and Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) implemented the concept of moderation to perfection. As mentioned in the Qur?an, (Eat and drink and be not immoderate. Verily Allah does not like the transgressors) (Al-A`raf 7:31). And (Eat of the good things We have provided for your sustenance, but commit no excess therein) (Taha 20:81). It would be useful to keep another hadith of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) in mind this Ramadan: ?No man fills a vessel worse than his stomach. A few mouthfuls that would suffice to keep his back upright are enough for a man. But if he must eat more, then he should fill one third (of his stomach) with food, one third with drink and leave one third for easy breathing? (Ahmad). Here are some tips we can deduce from the Qur?anic verses above and the Prophet?s Hadith: 1. Do not eat till complete satiety. 2. Before you eat, make your intentions?niyah?that your iftar is an act of worship. Eating should be given the same attention as prayer. Thus it is also sunnah to perform ablution before you begin to eat. Another niyah is eating to provide you with enough energy to perform your other acts of worship (praying, reading Qur`an etc). Overeating may result in the feeling of sluggishness, which could prevent you from performing your other acts of worship well. 3. Start your meal by saying bismillah (in the name of Allah), and eat with your right hand. Take small bites and do not reach out for more food before you finish chewing what you have in your mouth. This is the sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). 4. Do not put more than you can eat on your plate because you are hungry, try to fill your plate only with the amount of food you know you will eat. 5. You should only fill one third of your stomach with food and leave one third for fluids to compensate for the fluids lost during the day. Fluids can help good digestion. As the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, one ?should fill one third (of his stomach) with food, one third with drink and leave one third for easy breathing.? Leaving a third of your stomach empty ?for breath? keeps you from overeating to the extent of not being able to breathe comfortably after finishing your meal. 6. Remember, eating a lot at once may lead to distention and indigestion. 7. Help digest the iftar by walking to the mosque you will pray in. Try also to increase the number of steps you take every day by 2000 steps. This is not a difficult number to achieve if you pray in a mosque that is a little further away every day. In addition, every step you take to the mosque increases your rewards, in sha`Allah. The idea is moderation, not excess or deprivation. Depriving your body of food is just as detrimental. At the end, we wish you a healthy Ramadan.

With good manners you understand the knowledge. With the knowledge, your actions are corrected. With actions, wisdom is obtained. With wisdom you understand zuhd (abstinence) and are granted its benefits. With zuhd comes abandoning the world. With abandoning the world comes desire for the Hereafter. With desire for the Hereafter the pleasure of Allaah-Mighty and Majestic-is obtained.: Iqtidaa'ul'Illmil'Amal( no.31).
love Allah swt Posted on Sep 22, 2006 at 04:36 PM
Allah's Messenger, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam, said: "If Allah loves someone He calls angel) Jibreel and says: I love so-and-so, so you love him. Jibreel loves him, and calls the other angels in Heaven to love that person. They love him, then his love will be made upon earth, and he becomes loved. "And if Allah hates someone He calls Gabriel and says: I hate so-and-so and you hate him. Jibreel hates him and calls the angels in Heaven and says: Allah hates so-and-so, so you all hate him. They all hate him, and his hatred is made upon earth and he becomes hated." - Muslim [Lessons from this hadith] People do things for the sake of seeking out love from other humans. All the love you need is found in obeying Allah. Do actions sincerely to win Allah's love, and love will be yours!
the beard Posted on Sep 22, 2006 at 04:34 PM
Shaykh Abdur-Rahman As-Sa'idi stated that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him) ordered us to trim our moustaches and grow our beards. He also influenced us that to trim it (facial hair) is from the Majus and the polytheists. He warned his nation from following that misguided custom. So, truly it is strange that we see someone who believes in Allah and His Messenger, yet is stingy in following the example of the Prophet, the Companions, and the Tabi'een (successor of the Companions.) Allah has honored men with beards and has made their beauty and character apparent in it, so woe to the one who shaves it, for he has disobeyed his Lord openly. Do all of those that shave their beards think that they have achieved a handsome appearance? Surely, they have not, since it shames the face of a man and takes away from its nobility. Following the misguided example of others often makes evil things seem comely. Did the people of knowledge not say that if anyone attacked another by shaving his beard and that if it did not ever grow again, then upon the attacker is the responsibility of paying full blood money? This illustrates the honor and good that Allah (the Exalted) has placed in men who keep beards. In parallel to the previous example, imagine the state of the one who assaults his OWN honor and dignity by removing his beard.
The scholar and the laborer Posted on Sep 22, 2006 at 04:29 PM
A Scholar of Islamic jurisprudence, Bakr Al-Muzani, saw a laborer carrying goods with him while constantly uttering, "Alhamdulillah" (All praise and thanks is for Allah) and "Astaghfirullah" (I seek forgiveness from Allah). The Scholar said that he waited for the laborer to rest from his load before he spoke to him. Then Al Muzani asked him, "Do you not know anything other then this (Alhamdulillah and Astaghfirullah)?" The Laborer responded, "Indeed I know much else and I do read the Book of Allah, except that a salve of Allah is constantly shifting between a state of blessing (from Allah) and sin. This being the condition of man, I praise and thank Allah for the blessings He has given me and seek His forgiveness for my sins." The Scholar said, "Certainly this laborer has a deeper understanding of the religion then Bakr (himself)."
