The hijjab debate
having looked and researched the arbic into english,my question is always does the qur'aan 'mandate' us to wear a hijjab?,does it say in the qur'aan to wear things in a certain way? of a certain color? and act in certain way,dress in a certin way? or are the practises,thought,views based on relgious doctorine,or does it come from hadithth or culture practises around the world. i have come across many interpretions for the tem' hijjab', some describe it as a veil,some as a cloak, some as a screen,some as a cover.some as a hood,sum as a Bandana,some go as far as the nikkab, where does it come from 'the term hijjab'? is it down to the individauls own interprtaions etc? of their understand of the word 'HIJJAB'..why do some go to extreme some do nothing... we must respect each others views and interpretations, we must have no divsions between the muslim sects....


Hijaab for men
People usually only discuss ?hijaab? in the context of women. However, in the Qur?an, Allah (swt) first mentions ?hijaab? for men before ?hijaab? for the women.

Surah Noor:ch24:v30
"Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do."

The moment a man looks at a woman and if any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he should lower his gaze.

Hijaab for women.
The next verse of Surah Noor,ch24:v31 says:

" And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands? fathers, their sons..."

there is a dress code for both men and women. for women it is all covered except for the hands and face. men are obligated to not show from the belly button to 2fingers-
-width under the knee

when woman is at home and no one can see from outside (except husband) she may undress showing not thebellybotton and down to 2 fingers width under the knee. only at here home and among woman.
Men should were something on their heads because our prophet (Saws)always had something on his head.
"And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, leave it. And fear Allah: truly Allah is severe in punishment. " [Qur'an 59:7]
with this verse we know we have to follow his example his example is written in the ahadeeth.
