    Aslaam Alaykym:
As you may have heard from the American news or from other muslims, the people
in charge of affairs at Shaw universty in the state of North Carolina are attempting to close the Mosque at Shaw university to make room for an athletic department. The Mosque at Shaw
university is in need of your help. Please Take action(below) and Forward
    this message to other muslims.
*May Allah reward you here and in the hereafter for all your help in this
    time of need, Ameen
    Aslaam Alaykym

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Actions to take:

    1. Fax a letter, email or call Shaw University¿s president. His name is Dr.
Talbert O. Shaw. The fax number is 919-546-8301. His email is
His phone number is 919-546-8300. His mailing address
is 118 E. South St. Raleigh, NC 27601

    2. Fax a letter or call the Chair of the University¿s Board of Trustees.
His name is Willie E. Gary. His fax is 561-220-3343. His phone is

    **BE POLITE AND CONSTRUCTIVE**

    Key Points:

    1. The International Studies Center and the mosque, which is located on the
second floor of the building, was donated by the Saudi Arabian government.
The understanding between the University and the donors was that the mosque
would serve the Muslim community, both Muslim students at Shaw University
and Muslim residents of Raleigh. The University does not have the right,
therefore, to close the mosque and use that space for anything other than
    what it was intended for.

    2. The mosque is very much alive with Islamic activities. It is truly a
beloved home for a large number of Muslim students and Raleigh residents.
Approximately 100 Muslims attend Jum¿ah prayer, over 75 children attend a
Sunday school, and there are adult classes for Arabic. The mosque
organization is active in interfaith work and social services.

    3. There are approximately 100 Muslim students on campus, most of them from
West Africa but many African American converts to Islam. There is an
active, university-recognized Muslim Student Association on campus. Dr.
Talbert O. Shaw says that there are no longer any Middle Eastern students on
Shaw¿s campus, and he says that the mosque was intended for the use of
Middle Eastern students, who constituted a large number in the 1980s. No
Muslim would build a mosque for one ethnic group. That is affront to
Islamic teachings and an offense to the many West African and American
Muslims who do use the mosque.

    4. In Islamic Law, a mosque is special consecrated space for worship and as
such cannot be changed as long as it still serves the worship needs of
Muslims. To close a mosque, therefore, is a serious violation of Islamic
    teachings.

    5. The space crunch at Shaw University does not seem a sufficiently
compelling reason to take the drastic action of closing a place of worship.
Some arrangements such as trailers should be adequate. Shaw University
plans to build a large gym facility in the very near future and the space
needs of the football team are supposed to be fulfilled in the new facility.
Thus the space crunch is temporary, but closing the mosque is permanent.

    6. Taking into consideration globalization and the aftermath of 9/11,
institutions of higher learning should be taking the lead in demonstrating
tolerance and a willingness to understand other cultures. Shaw University¿s
actions seem to demonstrate and attitude of intolerance and an unwillingness
to use the presence of Muslim peoples to promote understanding.

and yes one more thing no one is borther here no one is siter here be realistic! we are just human here only for the fact tht we are Muslim and nothing more.In the long run u will all get the fact tht only Blood relive brother is our real brother inspite of the saying of Muhammad (P.B.U.H) that "Muslims are bother of another muslims".
i guess u ppls get my vision. why this site cant be a matrimonial site? i guess most of grls and boys(especially) here to find there copule but the fact that mojority of Muslims are liar and they just impress grls here in this site throught any mean and then ..... well this is a very dark side of our Ummah that we are speaks too lies about all the matter in our lives.
Spek truth ...have an Objective of Life and be a true Muslim especailly for boys i have thing to telling u tht"satisfaction is not lies in the lap of woman, it lies in the hardship of Life"
wish u all the best of my fellow muslim boys and grls
    Fe amman Allah

..we are all muslim!...we are belong to different parts of the world....i guess not all the grls are really a real one and neither not all the boys are....pupils....this is a best channel to be get intreact among us by all means...but there are always uncertainities...anywayz...i personally hope we can defeat all sort of tht jazz not the way like our (Muslim)politican do but the way to true Muslim and with true sprit. So lets starts Now.
What u people how to be a best muslim such that we made a balance with our social prespective and as well as our religeous boundries? what u ppls think.
In Pakistan there is a new wave of feminism freedom...what u pplz think how much freedom do grls should have and do boys enjoyed.
hope to see all of u soon.
a good approach to put together all the muslims
i wish i declare two sentences for the matter i want to discuss but the words are so much tht every word have its own meaning.
    enuff dose for all? ;)

    As-Salaam-Alaikum
I wanted to know why you started charging a membership fee? And you are promising more contacts with this fee, however;where are these contacts coming from? There were not many profile matches that I received before the membership fee.
    Have a blessed day

hello I would like to thank all of those who responded to my post a month or so ago. I have been very pleased and enlightened about many issues. I will be getting back to all soon I hope and I have made many friends already. You are a great bunch of people.
I would like to ask if someone could explain the emails about the poor widow who's husband was some general who had millions of dollars in some bank account at it is only my omnipitant self who can get out this money sitting in some bank account. I never knew so many poor african nations have so many millions of dollars in other bank accounts. I hope no one falls for this scam.
I also agree with others that drinking and smoking and body type need not be on any profile. thank you all again for your kindness.

In spite of polite request and warning by many people here (e.g zaina, rafi, zainy, amina, CaSisterZaharah and many others)for not making this site a matrimonial site, i am still getting mails from many of our brothers about frindship and long term relationship....and i am sure many of other females are getting that too.... CaSisterZaharah even removed her profile from here only because of the annoying mails she was getting from muslim brothers...and she had posted her request here in this message board....
If the stupid muslim fellows (male) cannt even understand the feeling of another muslima then i think we all should feel shame on being pseuso-muslims....here i am want quote the words of zaina again....

As a 'desi' (or homelander from the sub-continent) I feel it is my moral obligation to tell my brothers something they should know. It saddens me that many sisters have removed themselves from this board because brothers have not the sense and modesty to refrain from emailing them when they say they don't want any male contacts. I too have been pestered in this way, and 99% of the time, to my chagrin, the fellows are Desi. Any attempt to politely decline their invitation to dialogue is answered with scorn or greater persistence. This is totally unacceptable and reflects horribly on Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and other desi countries. Here is my advise.

Brothers, be careful who you email. The majority of sisters who come onto sites like this are generally practicing Muslimahs who have no wish to engage in Internet friendships with non-Mahram men. If you are wishing to find a spouse on the Net, then kindly seek a matrimonial site. If a sister declines your friendship, THEN LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!! I cannot stress this enough. Persistence in this regard is disgusting and pathetic. Those who continue to harrass and email a sister after being turned down will deserve any rude and curt response.

I didnt want to name those people here who mail me, but i think i should i let other muslima know about those people..i recenly got mails from ajmeer786 and anwarupla...beware of them..i think other muslima might also got the same people..
i request the authority of this site to remove the profiles these people, who use this site other then the purpose of islamic teachings..
    Wa
    ssalam ,
    Sanya

ps:if any body want any matrimonial site then goto www.dreammates.com or www.cupidjunction.com..

    Assalamuallaikum WR. WB.

    Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters,

I am writing in reference to the comment that this board should be used for suggestions on how you can make the site better.

Just recently I noticed that a "smoke?" and "drink?" section have been added to the profiles. First of all, there may be some disagreement on the smoking issue, but drinking is undoubtedly haram. Why would a Muslim profile asked you if you drank?

Second of all, I was very disappointed to find that "drink occasionally" seemed to be what the profiles are set to, so that without even knowing it my profile suddenly stated that I drink occasionally!

May I suggest removing at least the drinking question from the profiles - if someone wants others to know that they drink, they can tell them in the "about me" section.

    Allahu Alim.

    Walaikum Assalam WW

    Reply to khalilurrehman concerning tabligh:
As far as i know, according to islam tabligh/islah should start first from your ownself (nafs), when you complete your islah of yourself then islah to your family members and then your neighbour, then city then.....and so on and so forth.. the circle should increase ...so i think it will be the best way and will be most appreciated by Allah, if you go out from your home in your neighbourhood and find a muslim/non-muslim, who either dont pray or dont follow any laws of islam. Give him/her few mints, convey the message of Allah and Muhammad(s) to him/her. If only one person listen to you and bring Iman then it will be great. start from small thing and then go to big thing, like conveying tabligh to all world.....but you should have "Fiqar" to tabligh/islah all world all the time...And i am sure you will do your job in a small city, and ALLAH will convey your Fiqar to whole world...May Allah help us...
Now as per your knowledge , you can spread tabligh on internet via emails, chat, making website, and the best way is message board like this, which is accessible to all and anybody can ask question to you and you can answer here, so that everybody find benefite out of it...
