peace be upon you
according to William James, a famous philosopher , man should believe in the religion that brings forth (to him) benefits.examine every Islamic order (dear brother)
for example Alwodo(washing before prayer) and u may find the truth.
Musical instruments are forbidden in God's Law. The duff [a small 1 sided drum made of skin] is allowed not for rhythm but for motivational purposes only. Musical instruments are equated to intoxication & fornication. Singing is allowed but the lyrics can not cross boundaries of Islam and women can only sing amongst each other. A woman can not sing in front of men.
Asalam-o-lakum to everyone in here! I just wanted to say to Red and any other new convert....there are alot of people who feel alone at first..but you have to open your heart up and talk to people at the mosque, read the Qu'ran yourself..if you dont know how..get someone at the mosque to help you...this is what you have to do to learn more...if you dont ask, how will anyone know you need assistance? right? we are all here for you..when times get hard...just give one of us a ring or send us a message and we will try our level best to help you. I am a new convert and i too have hard times sometimes but when i do..i ask someone and they are all there for me... none of us are alone...we are all as one..that makes us stronger! You take care and i hope and pray that you get all the knowlege your seeking. Take care, allah hafiz, henna

dear brother, actually the Quran explains it all. In the Quran Allah says that we were asked by him who is your lord? we all replied you are. So no soul can say that we did not know Allah. because at the day of promise we said yes we confirmed his greatness. This happened when we were spirits. when we enter this dominion(earth) we dont remember much or most people dont know because Allah has hidden our believe"eemaan" He holds the key to our hearts He is the opener or closer of the hearts the hearts belong to him. Most people are Muslim yet Allah has not opened their heart to say the sahada but when he opens it they say sahada and then they are pleased so much because the soul desires it.
I finish with a well-known supplication that our beloved prophet made: "Allahumme ya mukallib el-kullub sabit qalbi ala dinike" Ow Allah controller ow our hearts direct my hearts towards the deen(the faith,or islam)

There are alot of converts due ot people realising how much logic Islam really has. We have an answer to everything... and it is acceptable to the mind... oh! and it doesn't cost anything!!! This is why so many are converting to Islam each year. Our religion teaches us that this world is nothing, and that we need to earn as much reward as possible to enter heaven. This is only a test here, except, we only get one chance at it, if we die before then...... then..... ouch. MAny people reach a stage of confusion , or complete emptyness in their lives because they don't know why life is, or how come their lives are so empty.... Islam has the answers.

Peace to you- as a caucasian american woman WHO DID NOT MARRY A MAN AND BECOME MUSLIM but became one through searching, earnestness and prayer- I find Islam offers the personal responsibility and accountability before God that is lacking in christianity- it is the last word from God and is personalized because I am now on a first name basis with ALLAH- who would not want to know the last communique from our creator? Peace again and email me anytime although I am not a paying memeber i will watch for your posts....
Assalamu alaikum bro. Glad to hear that you decided to take the plunge into the deen. I personally come from an Irish/English/German family who converted about 32 years ago. Me and my sibs are all Muslim as are our parents. If you ever want any advice or help on this type of stuff from people who went through it all, I love to help. I suggest reading a certain book that I think everyone should read "Islam and the Destiny of Man" by Charles Le Gai Eaton. That is the most erudite book on Islam written in English IMHO. Take care and hope to hear from you. Wasalam.

Salam everyone...I am new on this site. I have been reading up on many of the post and finally decided to post myself. I read alot of post coming from converts which i think is amazing. My half sister is a convert and i always find it interesting how she is more religious than me...even tho i was a born muslim. :? hehe I love Islam and strongly believe in it...even without parental influence. Whats even more amazing is that most of you are so young. usually religion is the last thing on a young adults mind. So i find that very attractive...not completely in the sense of attractive...but cool.So anyway my question is to all the converts...what made you want to convert? What caught your attention? And what was the deciding factor for u to convert to Islam? All three of those questions are within the same context....i know. Any input would be appreciated. Salam...your sister,

welcome to Islam to you all new brothers and sisters. Iam very happy, that Allah guided you. You are VERY Lucky. Allahu akbar. My advice to you bros and sis's is: compain with practicing muslims, and be a friend with the Masjid, so that you wouldn't feel alone. I know it is so hard to be a practicing Muslim in the west, may Allah save us all from ma'asi and shirk...and may He allways keep us in the right path...ameen ya Rab
