Assalamualaikum brothers & sisters in Islam
I need some adivise regarding removing of tattoos. A brother in Islam asked me this question which I can't help him decides.
I heard of different opinions regarding it. First opinion that i heard, if the person having tattoos has repented, he/she need not remove it. Coz by going thru the process is very painful. To suffer from such pain is not advisable in Islam. Another opinion is that to remove it. Coz if you are willing to go thru the pain to have tattoos why not bare the pain in removing it for a good cause. Pls advise on this.

Salam

Salam brother Munir
Thank you. As you know in this world, some people are being plain ignorant. They know what is haram and what is halal. Sometimes knowing that what they are going to do is haram yet they do it just because of following the trend. Sadly they did not follow the correct trend of getting to know more about Islam. As in my case, my friend he knew tattoos is haram, yet he did it. Now that he has repented and trying to be a better man, he is in dilemma whether to remove it. Well now it is all up to him to make the decision as he has already knows the way of life in Islam. Thank you once again brother.
Wassalam.

Assalamualaikum brothers & sisters in Islam

Thank you for all views and advised given. In my own opinion, I do agree that removing the tattoos is the best option no matter what type of sysmbol it represent. We have our duties to give advise or guidance in any way that we can to help those in needs. The thing is, up to the individuals to change himself/herself accordingly with the guidance of the teaching in Islam.
Allah knows best.

Wassalam

Assalam -Mualaikum
Brothers & Siaters of Islam.
Yes infact that was the same answer that was given to me by a number of friends regarding tatoos isues. Some says it's wisely to remove a haram thing that's on your body, cause you could content haram thing on you, for your prayer.
But some says if you had already repent and Taubah, InsyaAllah, because Allah is Merciful, Allah forbid anyone to harm it's own body.
But i'm not clear about this, how about if the tatoos is a Satanic, cross or picture of human on it.
So it wisely to ask the Imam regarding it, for better declaration.
Insya Allah there is and answer.

Thank your very much for your opinion, sister happysoul. Assalamualaikum.

I did ask two asahtizahs regarding this problem. I received two different views as I mentioned in my earlier note. One of them said that not to harm or injured the body any further. As for the other, to remove them is better b'coz it is good for his own future. Lets say he has his own children and they ask him about those tattoos. What answer can he provides them with..?? Therefore, having ugly scars are better than having tattoos.. The important thing is, there won't be any doubt that when oneself is taking ablutions the water will really runs through the skin. In this way, it really cleanse oneself to prepare for solat.

Thank you once again, any other comments are all welcome.

Wassalam.

Wa'alaykum as-salaam shy lyn,
How are you doing my dear sister?
Thank you for getting back with this information, it's all very interesting. It never occurred to me..ablution might be affected. Since the ink is under the skin, I thought it would be okay.

Well, which ever 'view' the brother feels is right, and decides to go with.. I pray Allah forgives him and rewards him for his good intentions. :)

Ma'salaama

As-salaamu'alaykum sister,
Interesting question..
This is my opinion on it, it would probably be best to ask an Imam.

Tattoos are haraam in Islam as we all should know. If the brother is a revert and had it done before becoming muslim, then his past sins are forgiven. (insha'Allah).

If he isn't a revert and had it done, I would think repenting would be the best, and insha'Allah Allah will forgive him.

Removing it is doing harm to the body, just as putting it there is. And since we not allowed to harm our body.. that's why I think asking Allah for forgiveness would be better.

JUST MY OPINION.. please ask an Imam or someone more learned in this..and let me know what he says :) *so I can learn something too..insha'Allah*
