Assalamuaalaikum,

I have an enquiry about keeping dog as pets as I came across many Muslims even in the Middle East who keep dogs as pets.

I was told that Dogs are haram to breed but how come there are still who keep dogs?

I hope to get answers from any knowledgeable people here. Please advice.

Thank you.

Wassalam
Siti

Hello all,

Should I say hello or asslalamuaalaikum?

For those who have replied to my messages, thanks a lot but I won't get myself a dog.

I agreed with Maverick that Muslims keep dog for safeguarding their property or for hunting purposes...I think those "Muslims" who keep dogs as pets are not really observant or they do have not knowledge about their own religion at all..

Their fun and at times funny in the little things that they do . u don't have to give them much and they don't ask for much -just some of your time . Feed them once and thier your friend for life. So get one u all and thank me later!

I think people seriously underestimate how amazing dogs are lets not forget what they do for the disabled as well as what they do for people who are depressed or scared to leave there homes alone

I think Dogs and cats have
been kept as pets for many
centuries now.

The difference is that Dogs
will bond with you, and to
a Cat you are staff!

I've had both. The dog is
very good at guarding your
home, even if it doesn't
bite, it will bark at an
intruder, scaring them off.
Some cats will protect too
and their attacks are quite
mean.

In order to get cats and
dogs, they do have to be
bred, and someone has to do
it. I personally prefer the
more exotic breeds, such as the
Collie but they are not suited
well to hot climates. They
have very long hair but have
some of the most loving
dispositions. They will let
your children crawl all over
them and if threatened will
give their lives to protect
them.

But don't ever get a Dalmation!
Half are born blind, they have
health problems. The morons who
bred them didn't have a clue. I
think that breed will soon be
lost forever because of stupidity
and the imbreeding.
