The Witr Salaat is better if you do it after Qiyamulail ( Midnight Salaat / around 2.00 a.m ) You can do Qiyamulail 8 raka'at with Salaam every 2 Raka'at, and close the Salaat with 3 Raka'at of Witr Salaat. And for brother AlNoorAshraq it is better if you quote the sources of those Duaa Qunoot where is it come from, Hadith Shahih, Hasan, Dho'if or Ma'udhu, so the people who read it will not be misleading.

The Witr Salaat is Wajib (a necessary duty just below in rank than Fardh) and is offered after Isha Salaat.

It consists of three Rakaats and in all three Rakaats Surah Fatiha and one other Surah are recited.

In the third Rakaat after reciting the additional surah, raise both the hands to the ears saying Allahu Akbar and then place hands below the navel.

Then recite softly Duaa Qunoot.

ALL?HUMMA INNA NASTA'?NUK
WA NASTAGhFIRUKA WA NU'MINU BIK
WA NATAWAKKALU ?ALAYK
WA NUThNI ?ALAYKA-L-KhAYR
WA NAShKURUKA WA L? NAKFURUK
ALL?HUMMA IYY?KA NA?BUD
WA LAKA NUSALL? WA NASJUD
WA IL?KA NAS'? WA NAHFID
WA NARJU RAHMATAK
WA NAKShA ?ADH?BAK
INNA ?ADH?BAKA BI-L-KUFFARI MULHIQ

Oh Allah, we seek Your help
and we seek Your forgiveness and in You we believe
on You we rely completely
and You we praise with every good
and we are grateful to You and not ungrateful
Oh Allah! You alone do we worship
and to You we pray and prostrate,
and to You we strive and hasten to obey,
hoping for Your mercy
and fearing Your chastisement
Your chastisement shall overtake those who are ungrateful.

If a person does not know the duaa, he should try and memorize it as soon as possible. In the meantime he should recite any other duaa, or recite the following three times:

Allahum-mag firli
O Allah! Grant me forgiveness.
