Assalam Muallekum

My name is Nuri, I am kinda new on this forum and I like topics which we discuss. And would like to add one too. I am originaly from Azerbaijan, that country was before part of Soviet Union, and during that time any kinda religion was unofficialy restricted, SU goverment called religion - "The Religion is opium for people", that time was 1 believe is Communizm, Lenin, Stalin, Marks and Engels. Azerbaijan is 90 % muslim country, but mostly people during Soviet era didn't follow Islam, they didn't pray, drunk alcochol(because of russian vodka), sometimes went to mesjid, I would call pretty far from Islam. And in my family, only my grandma from father side was praying and followed all rules, but my another grandma she is Christian, pure russian, and my parents and my 2 other sisters also have never praid before, but we celebrated all muslim holidays. In my case I don't pray at all, but I beleive in Allah, our prophet Muhammed, keep fasting on Ramadan, and do zakat every time when I have a chance, try to help people as much as I can. And don't know would you call me muslim, or just kinda "fake" muslim who doen't not follow all rules of Islam?!.

Thanks for opinion!
Nuri.

Aslamu alikom ,
visit (islamway) and you will find there good tutorials about learning salat and other rules of islam , if you have any question visit (islam-qa) and ask the scholars there

and always remeber what ALLAH says in Quran :

" As for those who strive hard in Us (Our Cause), We will surely guide them to Our Paths (i.e., Allaah?s Religion - Islamic Monotheism)..."

[al-?Ankaboot 29:69]

Assalamualaikum,

Brother Nuri,

Your poor upbringing by your parents, somehow affect your faith and your life.......

Your parents should guide and show good examples to you and your siblings as good muslims, but that does not happen......

But do not disappointed, you still have time to repent.......be serious in your repent and try your best not to repeat your mistakes, continue to do good deeds and supplicate or dua to Allah to always give you guidance and blessing, Insya'Allah, Allah will guide you to the correct path and make you into good muslim, Insya'Allah.

My advice, serious in your repent, try to start salat or prayer as soon as possible.......gain and increase your Islamic knowledge, that will increase your iman or faith, Insya'Allah.

Allah is The Most Merciful and The Most Forgiving, don't feel disappointed, if you are serious to repent and try your best not to repeat your mistakes and try to do as many good deeds as you could, Insya'Allah, Allah will accept your repentance.

ABOUT REPENTANCE
The Sayings of the Prophet,
The Almighty accepts the repentance of a person, right to his last breath.

ABOUT PRAYER
The Sayings of the Prophet,
The believer is never closer to The Almighty than when he is prostrating himself in worship.

ABOUT REPENTANCE
The Sayings of the Prophet,
Do not call anyone an unbeliever when repentance can make up for it, unless he is someone that The Almighty has mentioned in His Book.

ABOUT FAITH
The Sayings of the Prophet,
One who has in his heart good(faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell.

ABOUT FAITH
The Sayings of the Prophet,
The one who is pleased with Allah as his Lord and Islam as his religion and Muhammad as His Messenger has tasted faith.

Increase your Islamic knowledge, you will become good Muslim one day, Insya'Allah.

If you want, I will try to get for you a book about prayer or salat, as a guidance for you, Insya'Allah, just let me know.....

Nuri it very good that you have made-up your mind to become Muslim and perform all that is required of you mash Allah. Here is some evidence to what I said early, and note that this religion is based on evidence not feelings. 1 ? Remember that Allaah, may He be exalted, has judged the one who does not pray to be a kaafir. The same is mentioned in the Sunnah, and the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) were unanimously agreed upon that. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):?
?But if they repent [by rejecting Shirk (polytheism) and accept Islamic Monotheism], perform As-Salaah (Iqaamat-as-Salaah) and give Zakaah, then they are your brethren in religion?
[al-Tawbah 9:11]?
It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ?Between a man and shirk and kufr there stands his giving up prayer.? Narrated by Muslim (82).?
?Abd-Allaah ibn Shaqeeq said: The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not think that failing to do any deed counted as kufr, except prayer. Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (2622). If you are not praying, then you must repent from this deed and you have to go back to praying regularly, as Allaah has enjoined you, at the proper times fulfilling the conditions of prayer and doing all the obligatory parts of prayer.?
2 ? You should note that neglecting the prayer until the time for it is over is one of the deeds for which Allaah has warned of punishment. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):?
?Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As?Salaat (the prayers) [i.e. made their Salaat (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times] and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell?
[Maryam 19:59]?
?Those who delay their Salaah (prayer from their stated fixed times)?
[al-Maa?oon 107:5]?

Assalamualaikum,

Brother Nuri,

Insya'Allah, you are still a muslim if you believe in Allah, Islam, Quran and Prophet Muhammad and his teachings.

Praise to Allah, if Allah has open your heart to become a better Muslim.......but you must work hard, gain knowledge to increase your iman or faith to become a good muslim, Insya'Allah.

There is always room for improvement for all muslims.

Pray to Allah is important and significant in Islam and as a muslim.

ABOUT PRAYER
The Sayings of the Prophet,
The first of his actions for which a servant of The Almighty will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers.

Brother Nuri, try to get a religious teacher or at least a good muslim near your place to teach you about prayer or salat.

Increase your knowledge in Islam, so that will increase your iman or faith and hope that you will become a good muslim, Insya'Allah.

If you need help from us, do not hesitate, we try to help you in whatever way that we could, Insya'Allah.

Take care brother, have a nice day!

Your sister in Islam.

Nuri you must understand that Islam has 5 pillars, the shahaada, saum in the month of ramadaan, zakat, hajj for those that can afford it, and salaat. The majority of the ulemaa say that the one who abandons the salaat has left the folds of Islam.
So I advise you to establish yourself with Allah while you still have a chance, because once we die that's it.
